Greatest of All Time update

Jon Jones. The fact that only like 20 so people have picked him in comparison to 500 plus for Fedor really scares me. With GSP, AS and Fedor's blemishes on their resumes there's really no debate that Jones is the GOAT. This is supposed to be about who the GOAT is not a popularity contest.

Nothing changed for me after this fight.

It's still between Anderson and GSP. They are the two with the most top ranked wins and both seemed unbeatable during their reigns. Anderson had the greatest peaks of brilliance and toyed with people while GSP beat the strongest opposition and generally won every aspect of the game in his fights.

Being his 4th MMA fight and not even during what people consider his reign as the #1 HW, I don't consider it to be very relevant.

To say Jones is GOAT so soon is ridiculous, especially before a Gus rematch.

It is just my opinion that Jones is Goat by ability not purely by accomplishments (though he is no slouch there either).
He has no holes in his game, is very dominant in one of the most important aspects of mma (wrestling) and has a great finishing rate over top notch competition.

Fedor, for all of his durability and skill, was susceptible to the takedown and wrestling was a weakness.

Fedro is GOAT, no doubt about that.

Anderson and GSP runs him close though, very close. Jon Jones will be the undisputed GOAT by the time he retires.

Fedor had no blemishes on his record for 10 years.

Jones has some way to go still lol.

Cool. They are still wins and still make his resume the most impressive in MMA when you take level of competition into consideration.

Im not even a GSP fan.

This man right here.

Show me anyone who fights as much, and as long as he has. He's choked out Chuck Liddell, knocked out Forrest Griffin, subbed Chael Sonnen (who hasn't), and fought both Anderson, Couture and Minotauro to losing decisions, but survived no less. With 115 fights under his belt and a record of 89/21/5, he may not be the greatest in terms of competition and wins, but his will to fight is limitless, and it will be a long time before we ever see a man with the kind of heart that Jeremy Horn has maintained through all these years.

He was able to dominate those guys though, rarely losing even a round in the fights he par took in...

Tell me during his run which wrestler exploited that weakness.

Hell, tell me which wrestler didn't get finished.

I'll wait.

GSP should be everyones answer. GOAT is all about wins vs losses and quality of oppenents. Not brutal finishes or losses. Overall domination is all that matters in the end. Not saying it aint close, but GSP is goat imo.

no timelimit, no rounds, GSP still wins all those fights, except BigRig.

Domination:

Almost finished by Condit
Almost finished by Hendricks
Lost 2 rounds to Shields
etc. etc.

Domination my friend is when you stand victorious above your vanquished foe. Not when you receive 1 more style point from a judge. It's fighting, not figure skating.

That's why Fedor is #1 in this poll. A straight killer.

First let me say I love Fedor. One of my favorites.
Second, to answer your questions, none - but it was a different era with less prevalence of sub defense (especially among wrestlers at the time).

We can argue for days. I just feel Jones is the more complete fighter.

Some say Lebron is better than Jordan. This is mostly a matter of opinion.

Jones has some way to go still lol.

Lack of elite competition(minus Big Nog and Cro Crop) is a blemish in my book when we're talking about who the greatest is. Also got KO'd by Hendo and Bigfoot and subbed by Werdum.

GOAT is opinion. You're standards of GOAT are your own, not fact.

Finishing is important to many. To quote Faber (talking about Cruz) "Its a simulated death match. You haven't simulated anyone's death."

Unless you look at some of his opponents. Some of them are blemishes because they weren't even close to being on that level, Nagata with his 0-1 record being the worst.

Jones is a great fighter for sure. No need to argue GOAT is opinion and I respect yours.
