I know I can level anyone with my punch...
Yeah, he was doing hard labour at a young age, no doubt, and even before he went down to New Hampshire to work the farm, he spent some time working in the logging industry while still in Nova Scotia and may not have even been thirteen yet when doing so.
He was a little tank, that's for sure, although as he matured and when he was in decent shape, he was really not much more than a middleweight or a small light heavyweight. Once he hit heavyweight in his poundage, he was enjoying the good life a little too much, and was basically described as being, well...fat. Still had the punch to level anybody, though, obviously.

Well...I think I'll let Mr. Bradley handle that one if he so wishes, with him being such a huge Dempsey fan and all.
I would give Dempsey a break on that Langford situation myself.
i'm only 19. i've watched his fights on ESPN Classics, i've seens tapes of his fights. I've seen him fight, he is the only HW boxing champ to retire undefeated. He won 44 of 49 fights by Knock Out, thats a 88% knockout rate.
The guy was good, i think he beats any HW fighter from any era in their primes. I think he beats Tyson, Ali, Frazier, Liston, Louis, Foreman, ect...ect...ect..
Tyson would be too fast and powerful for the rock, and Foreman would probably kill him. Ali would make him look like a club fighter, you can't hit what you can't touch. Oh, and don't even mention the Louis fight. Joe Louis was 100 years old when they fought.i'm only 19. i've watched his fights on ESPN Classics, i've seens tapes of his fights. Armstrong, the 126 pound division world champion, challenged a fellow member of the three division champions' club, Barney Ross, then world Welterweight champion, for the title. Armstrong, 126, beat Ross, 147, by unanimous decision, adding the world Welterweight championship to his Featherweight belt. Then, he went down in weight, and challenged world Lightweight champion Lou Ambers. In a history making night, Armstrong became the first boxer ever to have world championships in three different divisions at the same time, by beating Ambers on points.
