Grateful Dead!

The love felt in a crowd with one of Jerry's last tours in NC in the 80's at the Dean Dome with many thousands of Deadheads was unparalleled.

FWIW, been to hundreds (literally) of a multitude of nationwide events (with Gigantic Crowds involved) and Never was there less drama or more love involved.

R.I.P. Phil Lesh.
Yes, I picked this up only now. We just barely got over the passing of DiAnno and now this. Phil led a sensational life as a musician and co-founder of Grateful Dead. Rock in peace and have a safe journey home my friend :(:( . May the gods be with you eternally and may the Power be with you !!!

Sad news. What a life he led doing what he loved. He was responsible in the early days for a lot of the experimental jamming that the Dead became known for. His roots were in classical and jazz music. R.I.P.

This was the one Grateful Dead song he sang lead on. He wrote it with Robert Hunter for his dad. He would practice singing it while driving to the nursing home where his father lay with terminal cancer.

Walk into splintered sunlight
Inch your way through dead dreams to another land
Maybe you're tired and broken
Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken
And thoughts unclear

What do you want me to do
To do for you to see you through?
A box of rain will ease the pain
And love will see you through

RIP. Thats a lot of acid to do in one lifetime.

*The Dick Picks CD’s they had were really good live recordings I remember.
Really is Dead and Company now

Great book

Lengthy, detailed account of the band over the years. What I found really interesting was the difference in band dynamics after the success of Europe '72 tour and double LP.
The image of this hippiesque 'family' was pretty much shattered when all the members got individual agents for representation.
From then on, many things depended on agents agreeing on contracts, tour dates, etc. rather than band members just sitting around figuring it out. The impact of success.

I shed a tear or two over this. Ty Jacksonfire. Thx Phil Lesh for all the stupendous vibes down the line.
