Chinese people don't see animals as having any value, they're simply for entertainment. I saw a guy beating a monkey and getting him to do backflips while a huge crowd laughs. I was literally the only person who had a look of concern on my face. If you go to a zoo here the animals constantly pace back and forth, you'll find trash all over their enclosures. In Guangzhou, they had a polar bear in a shopping mall in an enclosure the size of a small apartment room.

Except that siberian brown bears kill adult tigers for food, and I wouldn't want to know what a 2000 Lb male polar bear gonna do to the poor cat.
