You don't announce a run on a conference call. 95% chance it's a bow out, 5% chance he's going to say he needs more time to think about it.

The CNN article said they clarified that the call was going to say whether they would further with a campaign committee or hold off rather than announce if he was or not. Seems like BS terminology to leave the door open but it seems right that he is bowing out on a call.

I was kind of hoping he would run. If both he and Bush ran, they could split the Neocon vote.

Rubio seems like a neocon. Heck, half the candidates seem to be.

Romney isn't running

Mitt Romney will not run in 2016

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will not make a third run for president, CNN has confirmed, and will tell supporters on an 11 a.m. phone call he believes it's "best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity" to become the nominee.

Multiple Romney aides confirmed that text of his planned remarks during an 11 a.m. call with supporters posted online by radio host Hugh Hewitt are accurate, and that Romney will "do whatever I can" to elect the GOP nominee, but will not run himself.

“I am convinced that we could win the nomination, but fully realize it would have been difficult test and a hard fight,”

I prefer Rubio to Bush or Romney though.

I think much of the reason I like him over those guys is he is younger. Policy wise, I don't see much difference in him aside from being smarter on immigration. Actually, Bush is too.

Yep made it Official not that anyone really cares apparently? He figures he can push an agenda?

I don't understand this post.

Romney just held a conference call and stated he will help where he can something along these lines? I just heard some of it.

Rubio is seriously being considered? He's accumulated just enough baggage in the senate to make it a longshot.

I loved reading the news reports online about the Romney drop out and seeing all the people saying "He should have won!" "The county needs a man like Romney to get us back on track!" "Those goddamn liberals would have voted for him if they had any sense!"

So much butthurt and reverence for a corporate weasel who basically won the primary by default and would have had trouble gaining traction in the general election with Wolverine's claws as cleats. If I were a Republican I would still be livid that he was the best my party could give me, after pissing McCain-Palin on our faces in '08. Romney would have been a great incumbent, but he's a horrible challenger. I do think there is going to be a bit of a power vacuum on the Democratic side too though, they seem to be taking this election for granted. You can't depend on the GOP to implode every time, and their roster is a little thin. No one is going be able to hit the charisma levels of Obama, and there is going to be a ton of money pouring in on the other side. You don't need to charm corporate money out, you need to suck it.

Reading posts under any news article leads to some good laughs. You get some pretty "interesting" opinions.

The Dems keep talking about the GOP demographic problem but they have one of their own with their politicians at this point. Outside of Hilary, there isn't many names that you could see running for the office. The best candidate they have represents the old guard. They really need to work on building candidates cause it is looking very bad at this point for their pool.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about, I was talking with one of my old teachers about this the other day and one of his students who was with us said she thought Hillary was a shoe in, and I think that's the general opinion among Democrats. "Don't worry, we have Hillary." Well if Hillary starts polling in the 30's during the primaries, where do they go? Diamond Joe? Jim "I Think I've Heard of Him" Webb? Howard "WHOOO" Dean? Bernie "Lawn Gnome" Sanders?
To be fair, Americans are incredibly fickle, they want someone charismatic and new, but also someone they've heard of before, someone who will challenge the "establishment," but also who "knows how things get done in Washington."
God I wish Bill could run again, just for the butthurt when he knocked up a campaign staffer and still won the general election by 20 points.
