News Goof joins the board of directors at Meta

Talk about a DEI board member with next-to-know subject matter knowledge. Maybe they can add him to the board of Intel or some pharma company while they're at it.
I always found it funny.
DEI was supposed to break the good ole boys club where everyone hires everyone else's son or newphew that knows fuck all about the industry and has no business being in that position by forcing companies to hire competent people who actually had the merits and background to be in that position.

Didn't happen.
But what did we expect from a society that rewards the business owner and not the engineers that actually come up with the things the business actually makes money off of?

your guess is incorrect. I feel like if Trump was trying to influence meta by putting his guy in there he would have chosen someone who knows what they are doing
Have you seen Trump's cabinet picks? Serious question.

He hasn't placed anyone in a position of power that actually knows anything about what they are doing.
Linda McMahon is secretary of education ffs.

His cabinet is literally sound be called his billionaire friend's club.

I mean if you need someone to explain to you how appointing Trumps BFF to a board position days before the inaguration equates to kissing his ass then...gonna take a wild guess and say you voted for Trump?

You sound like a far-left conspiracy theorist.

If Dana was on the board back in the day, he would have explained to them how stupid the Meta-verse idea is.

Zuckerberg and Dana have a friendship that goes back years before Trump even won in 2016. It's a rather weird friendship but it's real.

Yeah man, Dana can lean on his decades of experience in tech in his new position. Yup, I'm sure that his knowledge on that subject beat out every other candidate's.

It sucks because I have 2005 to present worth of knowledge through Sherdog. I applied, as well, given I'm 6'5", 240, all muscle. I cannot believe they picked the fucking clown from my avatar. I have a long PC knowledge of spread sheets.

I've worked at silicon valley companies that put people on the board of directors, simply to give the person a large amount of money (GIFT) in the form of a paycheck among other things. It's easier to make it tax deductible and seems more legit than a straight up gift of cash. Also, the person will be a guaranteed vote aligning with, for example, the CEO's vision if the CEO pushed for the person to join the board.

For example, I saw a lady put on a board because the CEO wanted to repay her for introducing him to her friends who ended up becoming key investors in his company. She got access to stock purchase plans exclusive to board members.

I've seen a guy, who was a hedge fund manager, join a board after he made the founder of the company a shit ton of money while managing his wealth. He got access to potential new clients.
