Going without sugar until Feb 1st.

I read sugar substitutes particularly sugar alcohol are potentially very bad even though thought of being safe because natural, but the article I saw said one serving results in 1000x the amount that would cause problems. I used to drink Sobe Lifewater, I don't see this in stores anymore for some reason, and it had the sugar alcohol in it.

Good luck i hope it works out for you. What worked for me is just counting calories and staying under calorie needs and eating enough protein and fiber. Also what helps is not having candy and other junk at home. That way if i wanted something bad i had to at least get out to get it which made me mostly not get it.

Carbs is just as bad as sugar. They turn to glucose inside your body soon as you eat it. And they're in everything. Bread, rice, potatoes, etc...

Also fruits are high in sugar and honey is basically pure sugar
Just no. People don t get type II diabetes from eating wild rice and potatoes. Simple sugars are not the same as complex sugars.

Wouldn't call this a 'New Years Resolution' because those are doomed to fail, but I'm trying something different.
Wouldn't even call it a 'diet' but a lifestyle change.

I'm completely avoiding all foods & drinks with more than 1 gram of added sugar per serving for one month. I'll sparingly consume fruits and honey.

I'm 6'0 and was 224 pounds when I weighed in on Dec 31st.
All of the general diet advice I already know. I've gone from 245 pounds to 180 in the past, though that was 5+ years ago.

As for what I'm mostly going to eat... Its mostly going to be meat whenever I feel hungry. I'm probably going to be drinking two gallons of water and half a gallon of coffee a day.

Wish me luck Sherbros!
Good luck my friend.

No fruit though? For the purposes of losing weight, fruits like berries and watermelon are fantastic. They are so volumous, but relatively low in calories. Whenever I get really hungry when prepping for a show, I down watermelon or zero sugar jello.

Bro throw in some broccoli and cabbage too. I found that it helps balance out the heavy feeling of eating meat. Plus fiber is good for you. It's also good for your gut health. And it will make you feel more full than just water.

I was off sugar for most of the year last year but I totally fell off the wagon in December with all the Christmas treats around. I'll be looking to cut it out again this year

Electrolytes are mostly salt, and the meat I'll be cooking with have salty rubs applied.
Very sure I'll be fine.
You should use a liquid IV supplement once a day, with the amount of coffee water and salt youare going to shed alot of other electrolytes, especially potassium.

Very doable. Once you get clean of the sugars its easy to feel the effects they have on you as well as what better classes of foods do, as well.

There's a supplement out there called Berberine. It drops blood sugar, which in some cases helps diabetics, but is also great for countering the times you fall off the wagon with carbs - etc. In a way it suppresses appetite too.

Good luck.

Maybe having a few apples or blueberry helpings.
Not overdoing it.

Been meaning to order a Broccoli steamer. Thank you for reminding me.

Always thoroughly enjoyed steamed Broccoli.

From personal experience, 1g of sugar is going to be hard. I had no problem using aspartame in my black coffee. But i needed some sugar before bed so i could sleep. I opted for a bowl of Multigrain cheerios, but there is 5g of sugar per serving.

Meanwhile I’m eating a peanut buster parfait. Haven’t had one in 20+ years. I forgot how elite these things are.

Best of luck, Chief!

72+ hours into the 'Added Sugar Fast' and I'm starting to feel the cravings.

They're not overbearing or unexpected because I've done a 7-day fast of ALL food.

In another day or two I'll probably have an apple and/or blueberries.

Best of success! Hope the no sugar diet for the month gives you great results.

It reminds me a bit about those diet drugs that have become so popular, but are so expensive. They seem to work similar to a no sugar diet, but people prefer the spend the money for the injections/pills.

Very incorrect.
This isn't for a year, only a month.
After that I'll probably have a cheat day and adjust the nutrition.

I'm very strong minded and this isn't my first rodeo.

How my weight got above where I prefer it to be is because of sugary cappuccino and $10 specialty pizzas from Dominos.

It's all good. No one ever takes my diet advice anyway. I've been in good shape for essentially my entire life and not a single friend, family member or coworker has ever taken my advice. I laugh at my mom because she straight up ignores my advice to have a sensible low carb/high protein diet and instead takes diet advice from family members that are on Ozempic.

I have no doubt that you'll make it through the month, but I do question the point of yo-yo dieting like this. It's not sustainable and you don't plan on sustaining it, so what's the point? You'll either slip back into your old habits after this month or you'll be required to switch to a sensible diet to maintain or continue your progress. Just switch your eating habits up now and you'll wind up in the same place in the end with less work and higher odds of succeeding. It'll also be easier on your body and your mind.

Its actually quite sustainable... For those who have the motivation to do it.

The trick is... weighing yourself everyday.

Its surprising the amount of people that lose weight, and then not even step on a scale for months afterward... Thinking they're around the same weight as the last time they were in the scale.

But getting in the scale daily is a dose of reality.

"Why not just do something more sensible like low carb, high protein?"

Will definitely be changing to that in the future. Baby steps.
