Gloves that solve the eye poking situation

more like especially the freakshows

dont lie, youd buy wanderlei vs lebron james if it was announced right now

The freakshows were amazing. Something only the Japanese can provide. But I love freakshow vs freakshow. Not freakshow vs the HW GOAT Fedor lol. (ok I lied I still, enjoyed fedor smashing freakshows)

I would rather they just start deducting points for eyepokes and fence grabs on the first offense. Fighters will train not to do those two things if they take a hard line.

And for both offenses I would say over 80% of the time they are intentional, plenty of guys out there I believe are dirty take their free shot knowing no points will be deducted or a few grab fence grabs to stay up.

So penalize accidental events?

Yes.
Not uncommon in many sports and it will be rough at first. But like I said I think a majority of those fouls are not accidental and even if they are they are reflexive. If you know you will lose a point then you will start training not to eyepoke and after awhile the numbers will decrease drastically.

I have trained for a long time and I and people I train with never walk down our opponents pawing with our lead hands spread out like you see for 90% of these eyepokes. Even if accidental it is super dangerous and shouldn't be gifted to offenders like that.

i agree, people tend to bash pride fighters because of freakshow fights, as if those were the only fights they had. really though, they fought other elite fighters as often as UFC guys do (2-3x a year) but then take fun crazy fights in between

watching them show off on cans made the "real" fights seem way more epic, kept the fighters fresher in fans minds (you dont only see them once a year) and didnt put so much pressure on fighters, where you have 3 elites in a row and if you lose, youre cut so you have to fight safe

maybe not eyepokes, but fencegrabs that effect a grappling exchange at all, yeah

people would stop very quickly

i also think there should be only one warning for all accidental fouls

Pride needed Elbows, and to not weigh the end of the fight, their score system with the fight as a whole was fine aside from that. Also, the ring should go. Wall n stall was still possible in the corners and the "restarts" in some cases helped certain fighters(namely the ref helping aoki get a takedown in dream i think it was)
Neither of the gloves shown here solve being poked by the thumb or a regular finger in the eye. They should start taking points for accidentals, because an intentional one they can just DQ

Except the majority of eyepokes occur amidst interchanges, which is something uncontrollable. You're essentially blaming the lack of control of something very few have a grasp of.

This is like getting a fine for going over a few miles in traffic.

I understand them judging distance, but why do they have to do it with an open hand, aside from the length of the fingers isn't waving a closed fist around the exact same?
