I realize Gus just signed to fight in Hamburg but that fight isn't until September and if he can beat Glover then he could probably fight Rumble or Cormier in Hamburg for a shot at the title. I don't think Gus needs a tune up fight at this point I think he needs a comeback fight and Glover is that fight. If he took the fight in the next few days that would give him a month long camp to get ready... hardly short notice. It's a fight that would make sense for both fighters and be a huge fight for Fox.

Glover by Gus never beating a top 5 fighter ever

Shogun was top 5

Glover is a tune up fight? please. Gus may lose to Glover which means he would be 1-4 in last 5 fights

The Gus fanboy handbook proceeds as follows:

Gus is #1 and better than Jones (then Jones beats him)
Gus is #2 and better than Cormier (then Cormier beats him)
Gus is #3 and better than Rumble (then Rumble mops floor with)
Yay!!! Gus is number #4 now!!!!!!

The deal is that every time Gus fights a top ranked guy he loses. I have Gus conservatively ranked at #7 in the LHW division. That is truly his real ranking.

Gus will avoid Glover,OSP and Bader. Gus conveniently is booked with a guy outside of the top 10 and Gus will try to get yet another title shot after beating said non top 10 guy.

Glover vs Gus needs to happen now.

Hopefully Glover would KO him if that fight ever happened.

No I was saying instead of Gus getting the tune up fight versus Blachowicz in Hamburg he takes a comeback fight against a real contender in Glover.

oh sorry, looks like i read something differently, but i think Gus needs tune up (Jan fight may not be that easy though), not killer in Glover

Are any of those ufc official rankings?

Even when I take your word for it that's still pathetic that he has only beat a top 5 guy 4 years ago

UFC wasnt doing their ranking system back then.

Only LHWs who couldve been conceivably ranked above Shogun at that point in time were Bones, Hendo, Lyoto or Hashad.

Again, I do not think that Glover is a tune up fight, if you read my TS I was saying that Gus shouldn't get a tune up fight and should try to come back against a worthy opponent in Glover... I might even favor Glover but it would be a helluva fight.

I agree with this. That way Gus doesn't leap frog Glover for a title shot after beating Jan Blanchowhatshisname.

Glover beats Gus by KO/TKO. Gus has the skills and body but doesn't have the mental determination to compete at this level.

This comes from a Swede and Gus fan (declining one due to lack of fighting!).

Gus would box up Glover to a comfortable UD. Wouldn't even be close. Especially if it's a 3 rounder.

They were matched up before but Gus pulled out with an undisclosed injury.

I don't think Gus will take it on short notice.

No problem but when the UFC has him at #4, he shouldn't get a fight with a guy outside the top 10. He should fight the number 3 guy and try to get back to Jones since Gus feels like he won that fight.
