Glover Shoulda Retired After Beating Jan

If he feels like he can keep winning and he enjoys fighting he may as well keep at it.

Getting the belt is huge for him.

I think he made the right choice.

Glover is a testament to never giving up and resilience.
Props to Glover for getting it done but his story seems like a testament to sticking around until all the guys who beat you retire, switch weight classes or just generally lose motivation to fight, then hoping that the new generation isn’t as strong as the previous one.

It worked for him no doubt, but it’s hardly a bankable strategy.

because everyone's gotta lose sometime? so why not against Glover? a fighter not being confident is very rare and usually means they're already beaten. they don't think the same way normal people do.
I mean specifically against Jiri. Why would he feel confident specifically fighting Jiri? Is there some weakness in Jiri's game that Glover think he can exploit? Of course he should be confident. That's not even a question.

he'll make a solid chunk of change even if he loses. and he can definitely pull off a win, probably an underdog but he still has a good chance if it goes to the ground.

its not like he has some legacy to protect. he's lost plenty of times to top guys

So if you worked hard for years at your job and finally got a big promotion/raise + lots of benefits, you'd just retire on the spot because that's as good as its gonna get? ITS A JOB, people, they aren't fighting in their underwear in a cage for "legacy", only fans really care about that.

This is the prizefighting business, not a sport. They're trying to earn money for their families, plastic toy belts and how cheeto-dust-fingered fans on the internet view their legacy never once enters into their decision making process, nor should it.

That's why you're on a forum and Glover is a champion.

He isnt Mcgregor, he wants to defend a title like any real champ

> Finally become eligible for PPV points
> Retire before ever cashing in on any PPV points
???
> Profit

That would be like busting your ass to get promoted to upper management/partner and immediately retiring.

It never ceases to amaze me how people seem to always think fighters should retire to preserve some type of legacy. Legacy don't pay bills. Glover is at the height of his worth financially. Retiring now would be fuckin dumb, unless he's got some side gig I'm not aware of.

42 is not that old anymore at that weight especially. Guys are gonna start competing into their 40s routinely. Little guys are different because their speed and explosiveness starts to fade.

If Glover didnt retire after getting almost killed by Rumble why would he stop now

He probably could use the championship money and everyone wants to have at least 1x title defense and milk it for a while. Bisping did it best he fought he waited months then fought a very winnable fight against old Hendo and got a title defense. Then sat out for a year then came back to fight in theory another winnable fight GSP but sadly he lost.
