Anti-Doping Announcements & Sanctions
October 1, 2024
"Jamal Ben Saddik has been suspended for 10-months for his violations of the GLORY Anti-Doping Rules (“ADR”) as a result of his positive sample collected out-of-competition on 19 February 2024. Mr. Ben Saddik, like all athletes under contract with GLORY, is subject to the revised GLORY ADR and out-of- competition testing program which went into effect on 1 January 2024.
Mr. Ben Saddik tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, prohibited substances in the class of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators on the WADA Prohibited List, which is incorporated into the GLORY ADR. The sample was analyzed at a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory.
Pursuant to the GLORY ADR, all results management matters are reviewed by an independent Anti-Doping Committee that has full authority to render a final and binding decision. The Anti-Doping Committee determined that a reduction from the default 12-month sanction was appropriate because Mr. Ben Saddik provided sufficient evidence that his use of clomiphene was pursuant to a valid prescription from a physician to treat symptoms and his use occurred prior to the new ruleset going into effect.
Mr. Ben Saddik’s 10-month period of ineligibility began on 6 March 2024, the date a provisional suspension was imposed. He will be eligible on 6 January 2025."
