"Give an A+ athlete 6 months"

Stipe Miocic is a failed college baseball player and he's considered one of the best athletes at HW. I really don't think it would take much for a monster like JJ Watt or Von Miller to come over and clean up.

Stipe hits like a truck and and can take a punch. Also has a wrestling background.

You can be the an elite athlete all you want, if you can't take a punch or can't get off your back, you're worth little in MMA.

for every Stipe there are 10 guys who tried and failed that you've never heard of

and really what is a "failed" college and/or pro football/basketball/baseball player... someone that is 99.8 percentile in their sport instead of 99.9 it's probably a negligible difference in athleticism and has everything to do with skill and smarts except for extreme outliers like a JJ Watt

Steph Curry BW champ with 6 weeks training

Steph Curry isn't an A+ athlete, he's a mediocre athlete with a sick jump shot and an uncanny ability to understand basketball. A+ athletes are freaks of nature, Curry isn't a freak of nature.

You take a high level athlete and they would dominate mma with one exception, being able to take a punch. It's the one thing you can't train

its kinda ironic you asking others if theyre retarded.

jones settled for wrestling cause he wasnt good nuff to pursue a nfl career like his brothers. besides even he himself said his brothers routinely kick his ass.

also jones is outwrestling olypmic level wrestlers n subing bjj blaclbelts.

now i dont care how "talented n recruited" he was outta junior college, if what youre saying is true, he shouldnt be able to dominated high caliber opponents the way he does in such a short time.

his size + athletic ability compensated alot for his lack of pure technical skills.

now again if we consider lebron whos on another level when it comes to athleticism n his size, its easy to see why he would dominated in short time

It wasn't brothers, it was brother as in big older bro Arthur would whoop on Jon and Chandler at the same time

and Chandler is one of the very best athletes in the NFL... the difference between him and Lebron is probably negligible and Jon comes from the same genetic pool

Fighting isn't like other sports. I don't care how athletic you are, some guys either can't take a punch, or just don't like to get hit.

How long was Jones training before he could beat top guys?

Now consider the fact that his brother Chandler is a much better athlete than he his.

Knock six months off of Jones' training time.

That's how long it takes.

I don't think we have actually seen an A+ level athlete in his prime fight in mma. Some guys who played in the NFL or basketball came in after they were out of their primes in their other sports and still won quite a few fights. JJ Watt or Von Miller with 6 months of training would be ready to fight some high level UFC heavyweights. Brock won a UFC belt in what his third UFC fight?

Sorry, but MMA gets C-grade athletes. When Brock trains for a few minutes and shows up to become HW champion in the premiere MMA organization in the world then you should know all it takes is an actual athlete investing some actual time and they would be an instant contender.

Johnnie Morton was a hell of an athlete, but he got knocked out in 40 seconds by a comedian.

give Calvin Johnson 2 years of traiining, he'll be the greatest UFC fighter

With a background of being a Cleveland Golden Gloves boxing champion and NCAA Division Iwrestler at Cleveland State, Miocic debuted in MMA winning his first five fights by knockout. He then fought for NAAFS (an Ohio based MMA promotion), where he won the NAAFS Heavyweight Championship by defeating Bobby Brents by submission after delivering numerous strong leg kicks.

He didn't "Settle for wrestling" The Jones's are a wrestling family....his brother Arthur who plays in the NFL is a 3x State champion and also had numerous D1 offers. As for him saying his brothers kick his ass, obviously he's saying that as an ode to them.

You are in contention for the worst poster on here, and that is saying something. The competition is fierce.

I saw a video where both Jon and Arthur were doing NFL combine tests like the vertical test...etc and Jon absolutely killed his brother Arthur. Not to mention Arthur like I said was a state champion wrestler and was heavily recruited. Wrestling is one of the hardest sports to learn, 6 months and you might finally learn how to shoot a proper double LOL. No A+ athlete is going to pick up any grappling in 6 months and start taking out black belts. Jones was able to do it because he was a high level grappler before coming into MMA

Are you retarded by any chance? Jones was also a Top 5 recruit coming out of high school in the national rankings, he was a Greco All-American, and Folk style State Champion/ Recruited by IOWA state.

He didn't come off the couch.

Obviously you know very little about the sport you're "a fan of" Jones was a HIGH level wrestler and was a College National Champ. All he had to do was learn to strike considering no one would match his grappling pedigree

Doesn't matter, there's more than 2,500 of these guys.

Even if only 5% of these prime athletes have a fighter's mentality that's an extra 125 fighters into the extremely shallow talent pools of LHW and HW, as well as MW and WW.

That would be a significant impact.

Brock is an A level athlete with an actual wrestling background, and while doing very well, he didn't outright dominate the sport.
