"Give an A+ athlete 6 months"

I saw a video where both Jon and Arthur were doing NFL combine tests like the vertical test...etc and Jon absolutely killed his brother Arthur. Not to mention Arthur like I said was a state champion wrestler and was heavily recruited. Wrestling is one of the hardest sports to learn, 6 months and you might finally learn how to shoot a proper double LOL. No A+ athlete is going to pick up any grappling in 6 months and start taking out black belts. Jones was able to do it because he was a high level grappler before coming into MMA
Jon has a better vertical than Arthur? I'm shocked!!! Arthur doesn't outweigh him by like 90 lbs, does he?

But I never said that anyone would do anything in six months. So I don't understand why this is your response to me.

Russell Westbrook has overrated athleticism. If you want to talk about a real athlete, google JJ Watt. Now, that's an athlete.

Making it in Boxing, the NBA, the NFL etc is a hell of a lot harder than is to become a champion in the UFC. For example, brock became the HW champ with only 3 wins lol. Why would the best athletes in the world join the UFC when they could be making loads more elsewhere. That 15k to show and 15k to win with 6k reebok sponsorship money isnt to enticing lol. Also, Give Deontay Wilder a year to learn some takedown/submission defense and he'd dust stipe.

The current Heavyweight champ in boxing Deontay Wilder just started boxing like 2 days ago.

1. As mentioned 1 million times, Brock Lesnar was one of the best in the world at what many people call the greatest base for MMA
2. Heavyweight Division in MMA has always been weak, he beat a broken down Couture
3. Most high level athletes are not heavyweight
4. Being an A+ athlete means nothing in the lower divisions as skill is the difference maker

He didn't "Settle for wrestling" The Jones's are a wrestling family....his brother Arthur who plays in the NFL is a 3x State champion and also had numerous D1 offers. As for him saying his brothers kick his ass, obviously he's saying that as an ode to them.

yeah! why choose nfl n millions, when you can get free scholarship wrestling n fight in mma bushleagues for 4 figures, right?

n btw nice job of ignoring the rest of the post!

its somewhat true at HW

its hard to prove/disprove because other than brock, there are no other A+ athletes in MMA
Brock was a wrestler since he was a kid until he started wwe and yet he could not really strike or take a punch after training mma for years.

Lol I've been seeing this forever now. Are people trolling when they say this or do they really believe it.

What the fuck can you learn in 6 months that'll teach you how to beat a guy who has been doing this for years? Fighting is the one sport where having a super high vertical, a blazing 40, and crazy explosion doesn't 100% dictate a fight.

I was a former college wrestler and trust me. It's going to take longer than 6 months to learn takedowns, it's not just a single leg/double leg...and it's not just "hurr durr sprawl when they shoot"...hearing this really dawns to me how little a lot of you know about the intricate nature of grappling/striking.

6 months may teach you some basic stuff, but when you're getting hooks thrown in and your back taken...human nature takes over and people do things that they shouldn't do. It takes years of training to break the habit of these quirks.

Kevin Randleman was an A+ athlete and one of the best college wrestlers in his era not to mention the potential "supps" he may have taken in his hey day. And his record is nothing spectacular (RIP). That should show you that this sport has evolved much further from the time where a super athlete could come in and dominate.

Oh and don't mention Brock Lesnar as an example, considering he was the #1 Heavyweight wrestler at Minnesota in his NCAA days

Its just something retards like to say here TC. Dont let it upset you. Any rational thinking person knows better.

People who think that it only takes a couple of months to be proficient in MMA never trained a day in their life

The fact I find most funny is that these "A level athlete" worshippers always seem to assume these men would somehow naturally have the mindset of a fighter, meaning they would not react like Brock or worse when getting hit to the face etc.
Thank you. Fuck, why don't more people realize this? You think Lebron could take a few hard shots from a UFC HW? He cries when he gets slapped on his way to a 5 step dunk.

this clearly shows lack of coordination n explosiveness.

now jones might "look athletic" when facing stiffs like bader n glover, however compared to true elite athletes hes not very athletic.

compare that to

come on!

jon jones (c level at best) became ufc champ after 3 years.

could you imagine what would someone like lebron do?

he bigger, stronger, faster, quicker... than jones.

its not crazy to suggest it takes him even less time to become ufc champ

Why is Jones a C level athlete, because he is too skinny to play football like his brothers, who would fight at HW?

it turns out being taller makes it easier to dunk, as does getting a running start;)

Jon Jones is B maybe C
He did it in 8 months

Lebron with 6 months of training would beat Stipe/Bisping/DC ect

He would get his ass kicked by any amateur.

What would he be? A grappler? A great kickboxer? lol

People think that fighting is just some generic spazzing out. lol
