Gerald McClellan "G-Man" update 2025

I always thought working dogs were busy on farms?
Its despicable but cant be compared to the years of anguish suffered by G-man, I feel for the guy.
what do dogs do on farms?

Thats a small part of it
Variety of tasks on a farm. From herding to LSD (live stock guardian). To pest & varment control. Property guarding. Pulling carts

Then you have guard dogs that protect property or personal protection dogs that protect people.

You have hunting dogs that track & find. You have hunting dogs that chase prey. You have hunting dogs that actually just catch & bite/hold the prey. You have hunting dogs that just retrieve the prey after it's been dispatched. A dog hunt can sometimes involve 3 distinctly different kind of dogs to hunt just one kind of animal.

You have dogs that pull sleds or carts. Single or in teams.

You have dogs that preform search and rescue in all kind of extreme environments or scenarios

You have law enforcement & military dogs. They can stop human threats. Detect drugs or explosives.

Then you have working dogs who earn money through what's considered illicit today in baiting exhibitions or fighting.

The world of working dogs is a very wide gambit.

The pest varment control thing is even becoming popular and trendy outside of the farm in big cities again to "humanly" & environmentally friendly way to control the rat problem.

Humans have been friends with dogs for THOUSANDS of years. There's thousands of years old graves they have found with humans and their dog buried together clearly signifying a close bond between human and dog.

Their "culture" is sickening.

Tens of thousands of years, most likely. The ancient Egyptians & Persians loved dogs too, maybe more than Europeans do/did.

the estimate is 50 thousand years. I'm sure, like all stats, that will vary widely depending on your source.

It has more ties to southern white American culture. It's does marginally make It's way to impoverished Urban areas. However, as an organized illicit sub culture it's ran by the south & rural White Americans at a much larger scale.

Just inner city & or African American cases of famous athletes are going to get sensationalized a lot more. Like G-Man & Michael Vick.
Spot on. It was in fact white southern Americans like John P. Colby that started fighting Pit Bulls in this country. Established dogmen like Don Mayfield just carried on the tradition within the white southerner community and it continues to this day.

The point i was making was about different subcultures having different relationships to dogs than the avg western culture. I only knew of the dog fighting culture through Vick and McClellan, two young black men from the urban lower income demographic. What I said wasn’t meant to be a definitive history of dog fighting in America.

It's not tied to Black culture or African American culture because you saw 2 famous black dudes do it on the news over multiple decades.
I would disagree on framing it in such a way.

Also, a poster literally picked it up and ran with it saying "Thats the problem with their culture"

I’d never watch two dogs fight for any reason.

Because I’ve spent the last 20 years of my life watching men beat each others brains into mush, and Gman was one of them even if it was only a viewing of the fight long after it had occurred, and yeah I don’t like the dog thing, but just like I said about Superman, they are some of ours and at very least it’s good to see them alive hanging in there I guess.

Then you can call out that poster. My commentary was not on black culture writ large.

I can post how I like in my thread. Or about a subject I am more versed in.

I made a general statement. I did not quote you or single you out. If you're feelings were hurt so be it.

Well you clearly referenced my post lol. No need to be a dick about it, that’s all.
