News Gegard Mousasi has sued PFL for breach of contract, and a claim for relief for Monopsonization. Getting 750K per bout, along with 50-200K finish bonus

The problem here is that the PFL is the best thing to happen to the UFC. I have been saying for a while, smaller promotions with less talent than Bellator have been putting up better shows. And guess what? PFL has NOT been one of those promotions.

If you respect fighters you will want the PFL to close down tomorrow so that the UFC can have real competition.

I'm not sure that is entirely fair.

PFL after the buy out is in kind of a transition stage. They had to fulfill obligations with these odd one off Bellator events in 24 that probably confuse the fan and chances are PFL wasn't all in on the funding of those events. They took on a lot of contracts and just hit the ground running. I'm sure behind the scenes this year a lot of time was spent on figuring out how to bring this all together. They know they have to branch out from just the tournaments as they have to many guys and many guys who have outgrown tournaments for the most part. They had to deal with a lot of these goofy written contracts like Mousasi's to go through.

Is there smaller shows putting on better shows at times, sure. But none of them are throwing the money around that PFL is willing to part with. PFL did hire the biggest HW name and by all reports paid him very very well. Most these orgs outside the UFC are lucky if they can sign one or two cast offs form the UFC over the years and many times have very little to give in the cage. The PFL may never amount to anything in the end but they are the only org in recent times that has been willing to really put up the big money. They have a world wide vision and other orgs outside the UFC have very regional minds for the most part.

P.S.: Chances are nothing the PFL is doing will ever amount to much according to MMA history of orgs. But at least they are trying on a big stage and trying to be a player for bigger fighters to try to leverage better contracts for themselves.
