Meh, when you take the change in the dollar into account, prices aren't that much higher than in the past if at all.

In 2014, prices here (in PEI) hit almost 1.45/l. That was 10 years ago. What would that be in today's dollars, do you think?

According to inflation tool.com, $100 in 2014 is worth the equivalent of $129.51 today. That suggests we're actually paying less now @~1.70/l than we did then, I think. Doesn't it? According to the calculator on that website, gas would need to reach over $1.90/l to be higher than we paid back then if I'm understanding correctly how it works.

But the Whitehouse had a post that holiday meals were cheaper than the year before? But you did say idiots so I guess you're right.

That usually starts around Memorial Day. I have a side by side that runs on E85, and unfortunately there is a big difference between the winter and summer blends of that ethanol fuel. In summer I can get away with buying E85 at the pumps, but in winter I have to buy it from a petroleum distillery in drums as it's the only way to ensure it's accurate.

I'm not sure I understand the relevance of this comment. If you don't switch from summer to winter gas and vice versa you're costing yourself fuel economy and increasing fossil fuel emissions due to the difference in composition. Just sayin'.

I don't have any information on how that affects high ethanol-content fuels.

Unless a specific policy can be referenced and proven to cause a price drop (or increase) on any good is bullshit in my opinion, so yeah my point still stands.

The summer blend has been in circulation for 2 months, or longer. Any spike in price is not due to the summer blend introduction - we are past that point and have been for some time. It’s nearly August. Winter blend gets reintroduced in September.

And likewise, was just sharing how drastic the difference can be between the seasonal blends, particularly for the higher ethanol fuels.

I haven't noticed any such additional spike up here in Far East Canuckistan. It was expensive already, still is. But not to a hugely different degree than decades past.

I'm saying that aside from the typical summertime increase in price I haven't noticed any additional "spike", despite the sorts of other fluctuations you may see in the price from day to day. But that's here. Obviously your mileage may vary LOL

Today at the pump im paying the same as it was in 2008. In fact today im paying less than pre-housing crisis 2008.

Only reason gas prices fell post housing crisis was for all Hedge Funds were heavily leveraging crude oil speculation. They pulled out of this commodity speculation market to cover their mortgage losses. In one week during Fall of 2008 all grades fell by a whopping dollar. Regular itself fell to around $2.50 a gallon.

Over the past sixteen years regular gasoline has stayed around $3.30 a gallon.

Yep and when gas dropped a little bit after they raised dramatically under Biden.....Joey tried to tout that as his accomplishment. The fact is shit was cheaper under Trump and that's all people remember and those people will vote in November and thats all that matters.

I never once mentioned Trump but the fact is that gas prices were much better for Trump then most presidents especially Biden and that's what the people at the polls are going to remember. You can call people idiots if that makes you feel better but that doesn't change the fact.
