Key points:
  • He felt like his jaw could break if he didn't tap
  • Felt he didn't have enough energy and power in his muscles comparing to how he feels when he has a full camp, felt much different physically in the Klein fight
  • Said he knew he wouldn't be fully prepared but prior to the fight he felt his skills, grit, will and determination will be enough to get the victory but the reality was different
  • He realized after first scramble that Charles is way stronger than him and he (Gamrot) doesn't have as much steam as he thought (that normally he does in fights)
  • Mentioned a few times how strong Charles was and that he (Gamrot) just was bumping off of him, so to speak
  • Mentioned that normally he is good in the position in the second round when Charles got a hold of him but Charles lifted him like a dumbell (repeating how much stronger he was)
  • Plan for the fight was to stand a bit a then go for the takedown, but he went for the takedown sooner because his wrestling is in his blood and the instinct just takes over sometimes
  • He really wanted to test himself against Charles on the ground and would do it again (go for a takedown) if they fought again (but with a full camp)
  • Said Charles was constantly pushing the pace, both standing and on the ground. Was chaining positions on the ground and he didn't have the time to even think, he was praising Charles skills and game a lot, saying he was the first man to submit him in his career
  • Said his ego went down, he got humbled, now he just have to train more and get better
  • Was thankful for the opportunity, said he felt this was a huge event and happy he was part of it, said he learned a lot and these experiences changed him as a fighter and as a man
  • Said he was asking for best version of Charles and he got one (laughed about that). He was mentioning his lack of proper camp but said it's not excuse because he knew how he felt but he thought it would be enough. He said Charles was very confident and just marched him down, was cool calm and collected with a great mind and years of experiences and was just better that night
  • Said Charles offered to train in Brazil with him and Gamrot definitely intends on accepting the offer and would hope they would train for 3-4 weeks. Is looking forward to go there with his family
  • Says he is a bit down but tries to look at positives. He says he has 2 kids and others looking and following him and he must set a good example in moment like this when you lose, you just have keep pushing and go forward (my comment: I'm looking at you Ronda, lol)
  • He said he is at least happy the talking is over when it comes to who he should fight, if he should get a more ranked opponent finally etc. He said he got his chance against the elite and got beat, now has to train and move one. Says he will be calmer now after having faced Oliveira in the cage.
  • Said he ran towards the octagon because he didn't want to deal with Brazilian fans antics. Said it happened twice when there were giving him fuckers, chanting bad things and making faces to him, once when there was some training and the other when he was going for the weigh in (I believe). He said he now understands why Arman hit that Brazilian fan. He said he was close doing the same and just didn't want to feel these emotions and give the fans the opportunity at the official walk out. Said he overrestimated the length of the path and almost crashed at the corner
  • Said he wasn't crushed by the pressure (like he was in the past once) but he said that when he was in the Dustin's corner when Dustin fought Islam he thought that moment prepared him for those big events, he said he was trying to take it all on when Dustin fought. But being on the other side of the cage was much different. He also mentioned it felt like he was fighting for the belt because of how big the event felt and Charles being a former champ
  • He thinks Charles might have grabbed his glove at one point to prevent him from going up (Gamrot didn't complain, he was just answering a question) , but then the reporters asked him if Gamrot grabbed Charles glove when Charles was complaining to the ref and Gamrot said "yeah of course" (paraphrasing for a lack of proper term in English VS what he actually said) as he laughed, he said he has been fighting for so long that he knows the tricks and he will stall a bit when he has to
  • Thanked for the support he was getting prior to the fight, the media coverage was so big that it made it possible to actually get this fight
  • Wants to take around 6 months off to train and get better. He said it wouldn't make sense to come back immediately because he would just be the fighter he is now and obviously thr fight with Charles showed him he needs to get better

He's 34, knows the UFC and fans aren't clamoring for his style. Not saying it can't happen, but seems like a title shot is too far to come back from. Some fighters have proved it wrong like Belal or Bisping. He only has so much time left now.

Thank you so much for all those keypoints.
That's why I like him (Gamrot). Always game, and even when he's humbled, he understands perfectly where he's at.
Instead of excuses and smoke, he said plaininly: "I need to improve".
And he will.
I am excited to see his evolution in his next fight!

wanted to see some good scrambles. Instead we get the sequel to the Big Nog book of excuses.

It should have been Grant Dawson vs Oliviera. Gamrot has no business fighting elite fighters anymore.

He could drop back down to featherweight.
