DLSS 3 getting very mixed reviews here, with a massive asterisk going next to any frame numbers from DLSS 3...

Essentially the AI generated frame is currently questionable in quality and increases input latency, so it can make the game feel sluggish rather than snappier.

Thanks man. I think I might skip this one and just wait for the 5000's. It only makes me slightly less of a whore but it's better nonetheless

Not gonna lie, I'm really disappointed with the way things are unfolding.

The 4090 just looks ridiculous and is priced ridiculous. It's like you are buying a graphics card and the rest of your computer can be thrown in for free or something as the rest is a fraction of the price. I feel like the created a monster card to distract from the poor value of the other offerings after they jack up prices.

I also think they make very few on purpose to keep price high and hype up. Then they drag their feet with what ought to be more mainstream cards the 4080 and the 4070 called the 4080. I wonder if they will "sell out" on day 1 as well with questionable supply hitting the market?

Then you hear about a whole bunch of jobs being lost in the sector due to the impending PC sales crash - yet it looks like they have a pricing and production scam going on.

I also hear Intel is gonna get out of the GPU market already which I think sucks. Would love more competition.

Assuming I get my hands on one of these 4090's within the next year, what kind of case would I even use? Would mine even work? My rig is one year old btw
It did not take long for the blood suckers to get their hands on all avalible 4090's and charge up the nose for them. I thought the bitcoin crap was done but now they are going for 2200 to 4500 on ebay. Oh well I don't as a user buy new technology so I am holding off an already own two rtx 3060ti, rtx 3070, two rtx 3090 ti so really I can wait.

As I've pointed out many times in the past, DLSS support is a joke, anyway, it's so sparse, it shouldn't be a serious consideration when choosing between NVIDIA and AMD; in fact, it shouldn't be a consideration at all.

If you're someone trying to gimp along at 4K with a card that can't actually handle that resolution, and your favorite game(s) that struggle(s) with this is supported, congratulations, you fit the probably 0.0001% of gamers who might find this crap useful. Yay. So now you're running a viable framerate at 4K (but not really 4K).

Oh, and if your play type of choice is competitive online play? Forget about it. Upscaling adds intolerable latency.

NVIDIA's DLSS was introduced on February 15, 2019. Right now, not counting demos, there is still only 171 games that support DLSS (165 with DLSS 2.0+). A handful of those are VR games that nobody plays, too. That's a rate of 47 games added per year.
Meanwhile, AMD's FSR was introduced on June 22, 2021. Right now, there are 74 games with FSR support (though only 29 with FSR 2.0+ support). That's a rate of 56 games added per year. So they're outpacing NVIDIA, and their sum disadvantage is currently fewer than 100 games.

This is a tiny sliver of the total games out there. Steam adds about 8,000 PC games a year. So this barely covers more than half of a single percent of games added. It's a niche, irrelevant technology to nearly the entire landscape of games.

In theory, FSR is inferior, but you can decide for yourself how that shakes out with high-res screenshots:

You know, this is a very good point. I'm puzzled as to why NVidia is not giving better support for a specific branch of the tech race that it's won. I will say that DLSS works incredibly with Cyberpunk. But it was disappointing to see that games like Final Fantasy XV weren't updated with the DLSS 2. I guess it's somewhat irrelevant since my card can shrug off a game like that, but the point remains--- DLSS has incredible potential and it's not being implemented.

What are your thoughts on RDNA 3? Will it release this year? Will it have better ray tracing tech?

Looking at it from afar I have no problem waiting until it dies down.

But yes, scalpers are scum. It's really disheartening

How is Gigabyte as a brand? Are they OK or are their products of questionable quality? I’m not familiar with them.

Was looking at this gaming laptop on Newegg’s Canadian page and it’s marked as 40% off, but not interested if it’s not as good as it looks on paper.

I have their Gaming OC 3080 Ti and it's amazing. I also have their Mobo. Everything runs gloriously. The OC 3080 Ti matches or outperforms the 3090 on average

I've been using Gigabye Mobos since 2013 (I forget the name of the board but I still have it somewhere, it was part of an old APU system), only had an issue with an old B350 board when I got my Ryzen 1700 in 2017. It wouldn't post so I sent it in for RMA and it was returned within 2 weeks, good to go and never had an issue since. Got a X570 Gaming X when I got my Ryen 3700X then got the Aorus Ultra X570 when I got my current 5800X. I also have an Aorus FI27Q-P monitor (had a FI27Q before), I sent the first one back that head a cluster of dead pixels (I have historically had bad luck with monitors regardless of brand lol) but got a refund and then got it cheaper at another retailer.

That's has been my experience with Gigabye products.

Huh? They just got back in the market after being absent since the late 90s.

I just keep getting push notifications on my phone to articles saying they are going to exit it. Happened a few times. I'd be quite happy if it wasn't true and they actually even brought out an up-the-line model.

They're working on the next line of cards "Battlemage", the exit story was crap from someone who gets a lot of stuff wrong

Nvidia are "Unlauching" the 4080 12gb GPU

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/12gb-4080-unlaunch/

The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it's not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing.

So, we're pressing the "unlaunch" button on the 4080 12GB. The RTX 4080 16GB is amazing and on track to delight gamers everywhere on November 16th.

If the lines around the block and enthusiasm for the 4090 is any indication, the reception for the 4080 will be awesome.

If you buy a Ryzen 5000 series CPU before the end of the year you get Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for free.

I actually like the aesthetics. But shouldn't it have Thunderbolt 4?

So does this mean they call it the 4070 and release it soon? It can't just go into the dustbin can it?
Nope, apparently there is no plan to rebrand it and still release it. So, for now at least, without further announcements, it appears gamers will be left that much longer without an affordable sub-$1000 option from the latest series to buy.

Why do you have to break my heart like this???

Edit: Whoever the genius at Nvidia was to come out with two 4080s should get a shitty performance review. Talk about dumb and insulting to your customers. To be honest, I'm really not impressed with Nvidia for years now in terms of marketing and production. Seems they really don't care about the most loyal and passionate portion of their customer base.

/end rant before "it's capitalism, wake up you idiot"
