And they're all completely irrelevant in China, the largest gaming market in the world, now, where every blessed
I've got a problem, hope somebody might be able to help. Not really gaming hardware, but still computer nerd. I'm trying to set up a piece of engineering equipment* and ideally I would hook it up through a hub I bought that is USB C to 3x USB A + HDMI. The problem is I can't get the thing to carry a video signal and the amount of info about Alt Mode available on the internet seems to be pretty lacking. I have a Ryzen 1600x with an X370 motherboard. It has a USB C connector on the motherboard but I assume the problem is that this chipset doesn't have any kind of Alt Mode functionality built in.
So the question is: does anybody know if there are any add-in cards that could add USB-C Alt Mode capability? Seems like the Sunix upd2018 might be what I'm looking for but it doesn't appear to be available anywhere. I've found used Dell branded versions of the card, but not sure I want to take the chance yet in case anybody has a better idea.
*Custom 3D scanner I've been putting together. It needs HDMI for the projector, 2x USB 3.0 for the machine vision cameras, and 1x USB 2.0 for the texture capture DSLR. I can hook up the HDMI directly to my video card but the hub is so much more convenient.
Is this the board you are looking at using? Your right very little useful information about the board other then SSD transfer speeds. It does get in on description Alt Mode mention but no use cases I can find. I don't know enough if this board has some kind of video pass-through capability I don't see it so I would be worried after looking into it.I've got a problem, hope somebody might be able to help. Radeon RX 5700. Nothing fancy, doesn't have any hookups for VR or anything, just 2x HDMI and 2x DP.What graphics card do you have?
Really? What was the visual issue before implementing it? Were you getting halos or backbleed or brightness blowout or something?I have to say I didn't take the function of local dimming on a LED TV seriously.
I really looks better. Also for some Red Faction in 4K

How did you arrive at the conclusion that local dimming was responsible for the difference? Is that the only difference between the two TVs?No I just switched TV's for my PC and really noticed the difference.
I though local dimming was just a gimmick.

I came to that conclusion because on my previous TV black was really dark grey.
Now it is really black.
Did you go to OLED? That's when we're really going to get genuine black and I'm pretty keen for it. Unfortunately there's too many sacrifices right now for a 48" or 55" OLED "monitor" (really a TV) and predictions are putting most genuine OLED monitors about 3-5 years away. Sadly since I love ultrawide I suspect I'll be waiting towards the 5 year range, not the 3 year range.
But it will be good.
Luckily for you, you won't be waiting anywhere near 3-5 years.
Samsung will launch 34-inch ultrawide QD-OLED gaming monitors next year

You mean that dark parts of the screen stay black while other parts are brightly lit, I presume. That's what local dimming is about. It's similar to HDR; the point being that you can have really dynamic brightness across the screen, but with the focus assessing how well the blacks stay black when the screen is really bright somewhere else. When we think of HDR we think of the ability to hit these peaks of brightness, but while maintaining a range of varying brightness across the screen, so there isn't white blowout. Ultimately, they're associated concepts pursuing the same goal.I came to that conclusion because on my previous TV black was really dark grey.

How long we think until the Ryzen 5800x drops to the $250ish price?
I got mine for around $300.00 using StockX and that was in JulyHow long we think until the Ryzen 5800x drops to the $250ish price? I don't really need one at the moment but figure at that price point I'll snap one up
I was browsing Amazon for cases and I came across a listing that had this. I wish more manufacturers would do this.
