Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Indeed, right now the online pricing doesn't match MSRP because Intel has forced AMD to lower their pricing on their overpriced Zen 3 processors. That happened in the middle June-- on the 15th. That's why we're seeing sales from the top resellers like the one I posted from August 23rd above. However, currently, the best prices from official online resellers:

  • R7-5800X = $389 (Newegg w/$10 off)
  • R7-5700G = $359 (Wal-Mart)

R7-5800x is on sale at Best Buy for $345…
Edit: no it’s not. Misread it.

This has already been posted. You yourself quoted the post below that discussed this headline. It's impossible for me not to suspect that you just shared this video without actually viewing it. This isn't the first time. It's getting a bit aggravating.
CPU and GPU prices will rise. TSMC hiked the prices 10% on high-end processors, and 20% on the kind of stuff that goes into cars:

1399 pounds for the best tier GPU was a deal....who woulda thought <Lmaoo>

EVGA is now claiming bad soldering on the mosfet circuits were the cause of the New World killing 3090's. If there was shoddy soldering, why was it just one game that caused these issues?

EVGA explains how Amazon's MMO bricked 24 GeForce RTX 3090s

EVGA said it received about two dozen dead GeForce RTX 3090 cards believed to have failed from playing the New World beta. All of the cards were earlier production run cards manufactured in 2020. Under an X-ray analysis, they appear to have “poor workmanship” on soldering around the card’s MOSFET circuits that powered the impacted cards.
EVGA said all of the failures reported to the company were confined to GeForce RTX 3090 cards. The company said it immediately shipped replacement cards to affected gamers rather than wait for the failed cards to be returned.
The company declined to say how many GeForce RTX 3090 cards it has sold, but did characterize this small batch as significantly less than 1 percent of the total.

I did view it I am sorry I have to work during the day and many times at the night so I don't have time to flip through a few hundred posts and if you see the date the video it is hardly a few days old.

You hear about someone took apart a 3090 and found a some kind of finger glove inside of the 3090 actually between the GPU heatsink and the GPU. They were looking into thermal issues with this specific 3090. Something tells me they are a miner but they posted a photo of the board and the odd finger glove.

IBM could be significant with next generation CPU's and GPU's.

That's a nothingburger, stuff like that can happen with any manufacturing.

You saw the post in question. You quoted it with this response:
This is a good reason to have more foundry competition because as it stands TMSC pretty much own the space and can pretty much do what they want.

Definitely not worth it. You'd be upgrading to a dead socket. Wait for the next batch of AMD processors.
I just updated to a 5900x and a B550-f from Asus.

Now if the 3000 series cards could just be available......

What's your GPU for now?
MSI GTX 1070

I know there's a LOT slower and not as good cards out there but with all the other fancy shit now in my tower I want to upgrade my GPU.

1070 is still a good card.

This particular sale lasts for only another 16 hours, and it might be the biggest case sale of the year so far-- $29.99 for a case that's retail price is $75 (normally $61-$66 on Amazon), and eyeballing it, I'm seeing features that would indicate it's underpriced at ~$65 because they're fighting to make a name for themselves. It appears to be a case that if from one of the big names would typically command an $80-$95 price:

I can't say I know much of anything about this "Montech" brand, I've haven't watched video reviews or perused online tech forum discussion, but I'm aware it's been one of the ambitious new up-and-comers in the case market. Unlike most of the garbage brands that gain some short term mojo it isn't headquartered in China (ex. Vetroo CPU coolers). It's Taiwanese. Generally, it looks pretty solid. As they note on their page:

You should clarify that the case is $39.99 and you get a $10 Newegg gift card that can't be applied to the case purchase, it isn't $29.99. At $39.99 it's still a phenomenal deal.
I'm pretty sure Timmy Joe did a review of the mesh front version awhile ago. GN did a review of a different case of theirs about a month ago. I think Kitguru did one as well, I'm not 100% positive though.
