Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Why was Sam there at the end? He’s a sworn brother of the nights watch. Why was he allowed to vote?

Man, that part was fucking awesome. I thought it was clearly showing that Drogon himself understood that it was her obsession with the throne was what had changed Dany and ultimately gotten her killed. Not to mention both of his siblings died in her efforts to get to that dumb seat. Her burned that shit down to make a point and then took her body away to wherever.

The dragon's were always made out to be more than just dumb beasts, but I think that scene alone showed that they're actually capable of being even way smarter than what was let on.

The dragons are made out to be similar of intelligence to a domesticated dog - very good at carrying out commands and share a vague emotional connection with their rider. To think a dragon was making a political statement by burning the throne or somehow knew an inanimate object never before seen was the reason for Dany's death in an abstract way is ridiculous but so is the season as a whole... ridiculously bad. Where in the books or previous episodes did the dragons display this capability? It was a huge leap to arrive at what happened last night.

There is a petition to re write the last season for a reason. Last time I came on here after the first 2 episodes with a butt hurt comment about how these shitcunts fuct the best show ever. 8 years for that?! Still one of the best shows ever but its not the Goat anymore. Some things were rushed, all the build up for so many different story lines and they really stuffed it up. Was bound to have some haters no matter what they did but you can just tell where the writing changed hands.

Lol at Yara still trying to rep Dany after she was already dead, then approve Bran as King for no good reason.

What a fucking shit show that whole scene was. Episode too.

I g
You wanted Tony to live, or did you want to see his death on screen?
ave bought about it and it would have been brutal if they did that. Like tony just gets hit right there and Carmela and the onion rings get covered in blood with AJ freezing in shock and fear as meadow leaves her car and greets the rush of crazy people and panic carom a crazy public murder.
Maybe a frank Sobotoka type ending where Tony leaves his jewelry at home and we see his corpse.
Either way I prefer the ending we have.

The gap in the wall over at Eastwatch is still in the intro.

And here's the rough distance between the three main castles along the wall:

There is no damage to the wall at Castle Black. The dead didn't even go anywhere near there when they were marching south. Thus the people now living at Castle Black still traverse through their tunnel/gate for expeditions to the north.

Honestly, I don't see how any of this is difficult for anyone to understand.
It's still a horseshit stupid explanation. However, it's an explanation and at this point I don't care enough to argue about GoT. So...all is good.

My biggest beef with this show is still how all of the issues could've been resolved in like an episode and a half. Even following the logic of badly written characters within the show. She-Adolf gets her dragon shot down and she is pissed. She charges forward burns down Euron's fleet, but gets the last dragon damaged. She retreates, Drogon heals...enter the negotiations at the gates of KL. Cersei hears Khaleesi's demands and goes "hmm..imma take a pass on that...fill the blonde and her dragon with arrows and don't stop until she's a shish-kebab". Cersei and Stark's battle it out, end show.

OR...She-Hitler flys away pissed at her own stupidity, knowing she forgot about Iron Fleet. She regroups, mourns the dragon and attacks the KL during night time and burns it to ground without anyone being able to do a damn thing...Hail She-Hitler, the rest of the show plays out as seen only we are saved 2 weeks worth of torture.

My troll theory for the last episode was way better than what we got.

There's going to be a big twist in how to stop Mad Khaleesi, Drogon, the Dothraki and Unsullied. Dany is all about instilling fear now but who do we know has already instilled fear into her and has been her most effective enemy?

Bran will warg into Yara who will bring all her ships to Essos. In Essos they'll round up thousands of Son's of Harpys and ship them to Westeros. Yara (Bran) will make a deal with the Wise Masters of Yunkai in which Jon will become a Son of Harpy in return for their army.

The closing shot will be Jon in a Son of Harpy mask sitting on the throne.

Never forget the Son's of Harpy!!!

The most effective fighting unit in all of the realm.

To me, the last season has been all about convenience and that's why it's sucked so bad. I mean convience for the writers. They had the admittedly difficult mission of wrapping up and containing 7 seasons of build-up in only 6 episodes, and they had to do this without the foundation of the books to carry the script which made it poor in comparison and left the dialogue hollow. Without the help of the books the people behind the show showed themselves for what they are: by Hollywood standards middlingly talented writers who've been molded into simply driving plots forward. That's all they know how to do and that's all they did.

The best part of this entire shit show is that they made is that they made it themselves. They purposely shortened seasons 7 and 8. HBO was willing to fund the show and to run the show for another year or two.

Always felt that GOT was a poor man's Lord of the Ring spin off

Thank god your not writing the show, the first idea is IMHO awefully bland.

Goes back to what I was saying previously that actually a lot of the criticism here isn't in agreement at all, some people wanted more simplistic heroism, others wanted more cynical realism. A kind of "enemy of my enemy" agreement between them but actually they'd hate the show the other would want.

So now a democracy. Where the first things that they fix are brothels? Basically ensuring human trafficking and sex slaves

So basically nothing changed in their shit world after everything

Wise Masters of Yunkai > Iron Bank

Son's of Harpy > Golden Company
