Gaethje on Paddy Pimblett fight "Absolutely not" demands title shot vs Topuria

My problem with a JG title shot at this point isnt even about his recent non title fights

Its the fact that in both his title fights hes gotten absolutely thrashed. Its not like he went 5 rounds and barely lost a decision. I dont want an entire card wasted on his title shot for him to come and lose within 2 rounds. Just seems like a bad decision.


However, a fight with Paddy would be huge. And i would fork over some cash if that wss a co main on a big card. But if hes at the point where he isnt willing to do that then maybe he should just call it a day. His time is over at this point anyway. So maybe quitting without getting embarrased by Paddy for $200k is a good move

Gaethje feels entitled for everything he has done for the company, but the fact of the matter is him fighting in a title eliminator next makes the most sense. Or retiring.

Part of me thinks Paddy should get the shot with Justin fighting Armen.

The other part of me wants to see a war between Justin and Illia so I'd be down for it

At the end of the day, if Justin wants the title fight and so does Ilia, that's the fight that's going to happen. Either way I think it's either Paddy or Justin next for Ilia.

All in all, I can see where Justin is coming from here to a certain extent. He had a title shot in the books vs Islam last year after beating Fiziev and KOing Poirier. The UFC needed him vs Max for UFC 300 and he accommodated them. He get KO'd and the guy that he KO'd in Poirier, ends up getting the title fight. Now that he's coming off another win, I can see why he's pissed and doesn't want to do the UFC favors as it bit him in the ass.

With that said, considering there are guys like Max and Arman at 155 who are ahead of him, he's more than likely gonna have to fight again.

Kind of a misrepresentation of the Charles fight, no? He got finished yes so the way he lost was completely definitive. But he also hurt Charles badly first iirc. So saying he got "thrashed" seems unfair. He was pretty close to becoming champ via finish himself.

I legit think Justin smokes Paddy. That said, Justin has had an epic career full of amazing fights. If it's him over Arman, whatever.

I had to look up his record to see if he fought since getting starched last year. A decision over Fiziev is not getting him a title shot. At least, it shouldn’t.
