News Gable Steveson Goes 2-0 W/ QUICK KO - Future HW Champ?!

I’ll say what I said last time. He’s got a ton of potential, but these wins so far are expected given his pedigree and his opponents lack thereof.

Athleticism alone will probably take him far particularly in the Heavyweight division. But I’d like to see what happens when he doesn’t run over somebody immediately, which will likely happen eventually.

athlete
/ˈaθliːt/
noun
a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise.
"he had the broad-shouldered build of a natural athlete"
And he is clearly proficient at sports. He just may not be as good as other freak athletes at the sport they've spent their life playing.

The dude was unconscious before Gable even went for the double leg. That shows his freak athleticism right there getting that all done in one slick motion seemingly.

Yeah, he’s can crushing right now and realistically has a long way to go.. but this is the heavyweight division we are talking about. It’s reasonable to think he can make a splash despite his lack of MMA experience. Others have done it before him.

Hope to see him continue to thrive as the competition gets steeper!

Cain Velasquez was 2-0 when he joined UFC and that went pretty well
Yea I think Steveson could definitely beat the lowest level of heavyweights in the UFC at this point.

At the very least he deserves a heavyweight fight on Dana White's Contender Series.

He should make quick turnarounds to pad his record seeing he is so much more athletic.
I think he fought 3 times in a short amount of time already, one was in DBX tho, at this pace we might see him ko some fool in a couple of months again.

I think Gable will be a force. Reading this thread makes me laugh though. Why do people still think a great athlete suited for football (handegg) can just cross over to fighting? These are completely different sports. Greg Hardy was a good athlete in the NFL but sucked big time as a fighter.

Gable Stevenson is what it looks like when an elite American athlete choose MMA.

We could really dominate the entire sport if we didn't have so many options for our elite young athletes. Stevenson will walk thru the HW division.

Not really though. I've said before we could be the best at heavyweight by a wide margin probably if the lay was better. Maybe even 205.

The rest of the weight classes we aren't missing out on our talent.

Makes me wonder how much money Gable is going to get paid on his first fight contract. Maybe I'm naive but I think they are so hard pressed for a male American champion that they will back up the dump truck or money to his house instead of the usual penny pinching ways.

If he manages to go a full 15 minutes then i'd definitely be interested in seeing him on DWCS
You might be waiting for a while for him to go the full 15 minutes in a fight, if he keeps finishing them all this quick. Counting his dirty boxing fight, he's 3-0 now and all of the wins were quick.

He's ready for DWCS now.

He is 6’1 and the likely position st that size is running back or corner which he definitely doesn’t have the foot speed of. Sherdog doesn’t understand that NFL size and strength and speed requirements aren’t the same as pro fighter or wrestlers. He has the strength of an NFL player and can hit like one likely but being a 6’1 man you need lightning foot speed and of course… to be good at football?
Not to mention that 6'1 seems pretty inflated, all signs point to being closer to 5'11 from what I can tell.

What is ufc waiting on ? Hw is bare ass! He would enter ufc n be top 10 right now. Aspinal , Gane, Costa , Pav, Blaydes. Are like the top. Gable needs to just atart his ufc fights now.

Noone can beat him on ground. His striking looks like it's not terrible....... legit think he could be another Brock. HW is empty like with Brock , freak athlete, known commodity. Feed him Blaydes Beast or Costa now

Stevenson seems much more comfortable in there than Low Blow Bo.

Looks fast and athletic.

Wow. I didn't expect his hands to look that crisp on defense and entry/exit. Color me impressed for someone in their 2nd pro fight, he's ahead of schedule in that regard and obviously has grappling on another level.

Send him to Dagestan with Khabib and he'll be champ in 2 years.

Not on board at all lol He hasn't even been tested yet, he's barely been punched in the face and challenged at all. Especially working with Jones I'm sure they're going for the easiest matchups possible to keep him undefeated and looking like a "champ", but he's a noob. Give him someone legit and see what happens.

It's his second fight bro. Most dudes are fighting in unsanctioned smokers at this point. At best they're in regionals fighting part time bartenders and stuff.

He’s quite a specimen. His career could go the DC or the King Mo way. Too early to tell. Promising nontheless.

He's looked amazing, and certainly has the ability to become the HW champ.

The HW division, as a whole, is the weakest it's been in years (probably since the early 2000's when guys like Eilers and Buentello were contenders)

That said, he's beaten two no-names with no value. It will be interesting to see how he faces actual opposition.

HW division is full of cans right now. Good opportunity for Gayble to come in and be an explosive Brock Les(goat).

What a garbage take. He isn't some plodding one dimensional HW like Lewis or Tai sitting back for the counter KO. This dude is a freak athlete who is young and being trained personally by one of the GOATs. Sure he's fighting cans but you need to look beyond that.
