FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

Loved this season, but the finale really shit the bed. It was wayyy too predictable for a show that is anything but predictable. I thought the bowling alley scene was done really well this season, a real wtf moment. I gotta say though, while it was good, it was great.

She never got to one up her commanding officer, prove herself to be the superior police officer.

You don't think she was the superior police officer or that she failed to prove it?

She was right at every turn. She did all the things she was supposed to do and then some, only to be shut down by her commanding officer. Rank trumped ability, as it always does.

I loved her as a character, and I loved how in the show we don't know for certain if she even won in the end. That final dialogue was one of my favorite moments of the series, even if it was derivative of Lord of War. The dialogue itself was fantastic.

I think you meant to quote @DIABOLUS on that one.

The fact that she still wound up quitting the police force (may have been years after, who knows) makes it less satisfying. Also, she had lots of help from Winnie. And Nikki sent the IRS guy the documents but gave Gloria the credit. A lot of stuff just adds up that makes her less impressive than Margie or the Solversons imo.

How did that happen? Magic?
Varga did it.

I'm sad they didn't show the henchmen being wiped out but it was a good finale for a season that started out slow.

Wasn't that great but I sorta like the ambiguous ending between Varga and Gloria. Still wished they resolved it in a more satisfying manner.

But I like the fact that Gloria is no longer in a small-time county deputy (and no longer under the thumb of that stupid Chief) and she's moved up to the Department of Homeland Security.

I'm not in the bigger is better camp.

I thought she was a fantastic character. I didn't need her to be "better" than the Solversons. She needed to be interesting and she was, absolutely.

I didn't need it to be satisfying, either. Stories don't have to be satisfying. Sometimes things don't work out for the main protagonist.

One could attribute that to "art," less is more, not going the obvious route ala Reservoir Dogs (a heist movie that doesn't show the heist).

But I attribute it to laziness. If they had shown the shootout, they would have had to explain how Mr. Wrench could have taken out all those guys by himself. He wasn't exactly packing heat like Neo in the lobby, either.

Season Finale

A bit underwhelming. Didn't like Nikki's "random" death. Thought she became an even greater character in the last few episodes and wanted her to survive so she can show up in future seasons.

Overall, an entertaining season 3 but not up to par with seasons 1 and 2.
ahhhhhhhh fuck,
Didn't know what happened

Poor Meemo. One of the characters in the show I love to hate. Glad he's still alive though. Hope we see him again in the future.

What the hell happened to Yuri?? Was he sucked into the spirit realm by his victims.

What happened with Photobucket?

I had to use imagur for that, annoying as hell.

Was he alive? I got the sense Meemo was dead but maybe I saw that wrong.

And yes, that's another thing that pissed me off about the season. Yuri was awesome in all his scenes. He survived the axe being thrown at his face, goes to the bowling alley and......? Meets his final judgement? What a shitty way to leave the show. Meemo was nowhere near as menacing as Yuri.

Photobucket used to have a bandwidth limit on their free accounts. They sort of stopped implementing it for a year+. I think they've re-enforced their bandwidth limit just recently.

Still alive? Wasn't his corpse put on stretcher after the shoot out? He looked dead af

Yeah, Meemo's fate is a bit vague. But I feel if they didn't cover his body with a sheet while on the stretcher, he's still alive.

Definitey, Yuri was the more menacing goon.

I remember those days, my accounts date back a very long time.

Argh.

Posting so any gifs was probably a huge mistake.
