FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

I'm happy Dunst's character finally grew a conscience. Surprised the Indian fella' didn't kill the other twin he knocked out. The shootout was a bit odd how the twins weren't hit and people basically kept jumping out to get shot, but the rest of the show was great with the butcher shop scenes, the Gerhart brother's speech to the Indian fella' and Nick Offerman and Bruce Campbell being awesome.

Yeah, I was really ready for her to get the axe until she finally came thru and did the right thing. She's still a moron, but a moron with a conscience is better than a moron without one.
 
Another great episode. Sad to see one of the Kitchen Brothers die. It just feels weird seeing only one of them now.

The butcher shop scene was funny and intense. Rooting for Fatt Damon to live at the end of the season.

Really thought Kirsten Dunst took the $700 and left town. She's still an idiot but it was nice of her to do that.

The scene where the cancer wife was looking at the child's drawing with the UFO was creepy. Reminded me a little of Signs.

I was wondering this also. They should have killed both the Kitchen Brothers. But then they showed the scene at the Gerhardt ranch where they wanted to send a message and I guess the red-coat Kitchen Brother was the only henchman left to bring the Brad Garrett's head.
 
How does it compare to Breaking Bad though? (as stated in the title) Is it a similar crime drama?
 
I just recently watched the movie Fargo and it was exactly what i was expecting. Overall average with an annoying lead hero.

Hiw does the show compare to that? I think it's mad talk to compare it to Breaking Bad at this point.
 
Noticeable quality dip in this episode. Usage of CGI in a show that's supposed to be quality should be unacceptable -and it was noticeable in this episode.

The shootout in the forest was ridiculous and the cripple kid not being able to go thru with the hit was predictable.

Solid episode, but a quality dip in the writing compared to the 1st few episodes.
 
Would I have to watch the first season in order to enjoy this one?

It's very different from Breaking Bad. What I meant in the thread title was if you love quality television with terrific characters, superb storytelling and intense, thrilling moments like Breaking Bad, then check out season 2 of Fargo. It's better paced also.

Fargo season one is similar to the movie Fargo at the beginning but then the story quickly drifts away to another new and exciting direction.

I know comparing it to Breaking Bad is sacrilegious to some of you but I'm in full-on marketing mode and I knew mentioning BB would turn some heads that normally wouldn't pay attention to Fargo.

No, you don't need to watch season one to enjoy or understand season two. Fargo is an anthology series like American Horror Story. Each season is a standalone season.

In fact I recommend you just go straight to season two.

Whaaaat?

Every show uses CGI blood. From The Walking Dead to Game Of Thrones. It is what it is.

The shootout was great, and the set up for it was better. The kid eventually did go through with it, he just missed.

I don't know how you would boil that down to bad writing though. The story is moving along perfectly. Not one thing out of place.

I don't care if other shows do it, it's a terrible way for stuff like that to be done.

I really like this season so far, but those are my criticisms of that last episode.

No. A man and his daughter are the only characters the exist in both seasons. He only briefly mentions the events of S2 in S1 so there isn't any real overlap.
 
The show is amazing.

The shootout was a little over the top but what the heck it was fun!

Hanzee doesn't seem like the type of guy to leave survivors so it was a bit of a plot hole to leave one of the Kitchen brothers alive.

The dialogue between the characters is really awesome and is what makes the show for me.
