FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

It seems like these Anthology shows are the new rage in hollywood. American Horror Story was the first show to do this now it's like a half dozen shows on TV doing this now. Not complaining since its a good way to keep the shows fresh, just pointing it out.

Didn't watch the season as it aired but i caught today's marathon and watched for about 10 hours. Great show.

Martin Freeman's character is probably the biggest pile of shit I've encountered on TV for quite some time. Usually i like the bad guys. I thought Billy Bob's Lorne Malvo character was badass. I view him like i do Anton from No Country For Old Men....like a force of nature. While a character like Lester just makes me angry.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's Michael Hogan Joins FARGO Season 2

Michael-Hogan-BSG-Dragonlord.jpg

Battlestar Galactica veteran Michael Hogan is taking on an earthier role for his next project. Hogan, who played Colonel Saul Tigh on Battlestar Galactica, has been cast in Season 2 of FX

I remember Kirsten Dunst in Drop Dead Gorgeous and she did that whole accent pretty good in that film. I think she'll be a good fit for Fargo.

FARGO Season 2 Promos; Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan

In two new promos, cast members Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, and Patrick Wilson all get their first introduction to the series, which will take place in 1979, and act as a prequel to Season 1. Season 2 will focus on Lou Solverson (played by Keith Carradine in first season, and Wilson in the upcoming season), and pivot around the violent events Solverson spoke cryptically about in Season 1.

On a lighter note from these dark portends, Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell is also joining the cast as a pre-POTUS Ronald Reagan. According to EW, Reagan swings through Minnesota on a whistle-stop campaign tour and state cop Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) is assigned to the politician’s protection detail. The series returns to FX in September, and also stars Nick Offerman, Jesse Plemons, and Bokeem Woodbine.

First Trailer and Synopsis for FX's FARGO Season 2 Released

9qel47.jpg

Synopsis: The all new “true crime” case of Fargo’s new chapter travels back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer “Lou Solverson” (Wilson), recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate. Helping him piece things together is his father-in-law, “Sheriff Hank Larsson” (Danson). The investigation will lead them to a colorful cast of characters that includes “Karl Weathers” (Nick Offerman), the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist.

Three-time Emmy winner Brad Garrett will play “Joe Bulo,” the front man for the northern expansion of a Kansas City crime syndicate. The new face of corporate crime, Joe’s bringing a Walmart mentality to small town America. His number two is “Mike Milligan” (Bokeem Woodbine). Part enforcer, part detective, Mike is always smiling – but the joke is usually on you. Bulo and his crew have their sights set on the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo, currently led by matriarch “Floyd Gerhardt” (Smart).

With her husband at death’s door, Floyd takes over the family business, frustrating her eldest son, “Dodd Gerhardt” (Jeffrey Donovan). An impatient hothead with a cruel streak to match his ambitions, Dodd can’t wait for both his parents to die so he can take over and expand their business from kingdom to empire. “Bear Gerhardt” (Angus Sampson) is the middle son, an intimidatingly large man who, although inarticulate, is the most decent of his clan. “Rye Gerhardt” (Kieran Culkin), the youngest of the Gerhardt clan, views himself as a big shot, but in reality he’s just a small dog who barks big. Fargo returns this September on FX.

FARGO Season 2 Trailer and Synopsis Hit All the Right Marks

This is what Lou Solverson references when Malvo sits down for coffee at the end of Season 1 - this 1979 incident. I wonder if Malvo was in any way connected (young Malvo).

I just hope this is better than that pos second season of true detective.

I guess I missed it the first time?

Hooray for the Culkin brother.
