Francis Ngannou open to a UFC comeback per Eric Nicksick

The downside is for the HW division if he gets the belt and doesn't want to have more fights after that.
Sure the UFC would strip him much sooner than they did (not) with Jones, but that adds even more congestion for the other HWs.

It is, but I think the UFC would see that coming from far away and would understand the situation and prepare of that. I think it would be a short term gain mentality and sometimes that can work quite well.

Assuming they offer him enough, they should include a clause in the contract requiring him to defend the belt at least twice, and preventing him from retiring before that, unless due to a medically proven significant injury.

Make it a pure business deal that covers both parties.

There is no contract clause that can force a fighter to fight or stop them from retiring.
All they can do is stop them to go fight somewhere else.

Oof gotta pay that family off huh Frank?

Also it’s hilarious to see him back the UFC after that fuckin tantrum he threw.
I mean I would throw a tantrum too over a slave contract that should not be legal in the first place(you can see in newer contract as UFC nearly got in trouble recently over their contracts)

It matters to Jones, who is at the tail end of his career.

If Francis is a bigger draw, the more buys the fight gets the more PPV points Jones gets thus makes more money overall. It’s also a business for these guys as well.
Did you miss the part where my post says FANS? Of course Jon wants the most money. But why the fuck does a fan of fights care for Jon or any fighter to not fight because the opponent isn't a big enough draw? I want to see Jon fight Tom Apsinall to see if Jon is actually as good a HW as he was a LHW. Jon's Legacy as a HW champion is truly a farce. BTW Jon is only 37 and his biggest claim to HW greatness was beating a 42 year old. So Jon has lots of time left if he chooses.

If Jones gets through Aspinal, Dana would absolutely bring back Francis for a fight.

I thought he retired after that boxing money.

Ruined his entire reputation though, getting pummelled like that.

I don't think they can do that kind of deal, where they force a guy to fight. They can prevent them from fighting elsewhere only.

I think a short term deal and a instant title shot with the right pay will work for both parties.

A Francis and Tom face-off with Jon in the middle holding on to his belt for dear life.

Yeah this isn't Enter the Dragon where the fighters are trapped on some island forced to fight.

If by some miracle they ever did a deal its going to be longer than 3 fights. They will lock him in. Jones signed a 8 fight deal right before the Gane fight. UFC will not make the same mistake with Ngannou twice.

Main issue as you mentioned earlier is Ngannou probably will not be active as he is wealthy now and older. He will be closer like a Jones 2.0 which given the shit state of the division is better than nothing.

I still have major doubts they can get the deal done. If Ngannou just did the Tyson fight and the PFL Renan fight I can see major pressure to get him in and Ngannou having bargaining power. The Joshua fight really fucks things up. This is the outcome what the UFC did not want all along with the boxing thing....their HW champ getting brutally slept in 2 rounds. They did it with the McGregor/Mayweather as that was #2 or close to the biggest fight in history and a retired smaller Mayweather wasn't going to KO Conor like that. But they did not want anything to do with their HW champ fighting bigger active HW champs for far less money. Now that Ngannou has a lot of money I don't see him wanting to come negioate down to get into the UFC at this stage. I would like to be wrong on this but I don't think they get this done.

Dana White's ego is too big. No way Dana brings him back.
Dana is a PR guy, there's plenty above him who get more say. They also brought back Ortiz who had a way uglier rivalry with the company than Francis did.

It wasn't corporate then. Different generation.
Frank is never coming back, is already old and has been brutally knocked out. Lost two boxing fights, won against a can in PFL. Offers no value to the UFC outside of a boost of 12k PPVs. You're thinking like a fan, not like a soulless corporate android.

Francis is literally worth more to the UFC being a broken arrow shaft in PFL's side than he'll ever give them as a fighter. Sad truth.

The other thing you guys forget is setting precedence. If you let him come back, you'll deal with 20 diva champs in the future, blackballing Frank shows that the company doesn't care how many guys you can KO, play ball or enjoy being PFL champion.
