OP is basically correct as far as MMA goes, but Ngannou would be able to get a few freakshow boxing fights, which would make him enough to hetire on, likely. The fact is that his run in the UFC built his name up enough to where he could get a nice payday or two in boxing before the world figures out he doesn't have elite boxing skills. All Ngannou has to do is be patient and not get ktfo, and he will be ok. If Gane makes him look bad, he won't be as marketable.

It depends on what you call options. Some fighters are happier in scenarios where they have the right boss.

Francis fights once a year at $500,000 in the UFC.

In the PFL he could fight easier fights more often and take 1 million plus.

Let alone boxing pay days. One big boxing payday would be worth a decade of UFC fights.

It's remotely comparable but less. They run their business differently and will bring in regional fighters to fight on prelims for regional level pay. It's basically a try out. They also pay certain fighters stipends especially if it's early into their career so they can focus on training. Also they've been doing a million dollar grand prix per year.

The fact the pay can be comparable despite the fact they do many multiples less in revenue and not being in the PPV business is a major indictment on the UFC's pay.

The play for Frank IMO is to sign with showtime sports. Give him some boxing matches and the PPV splits that come with them then to use his name to get on big CBS and/or PPV with Bellator. If I was Stephen Espinosa I'd be counting down the minutes to start negotiating with him.
