Tyson Fury is a top rank fighter who's contracted to ESPN. They are not going to touch Francis without UFC's blessing. There are no other money fights. UFC's got ngounou by the balls.

IMHO, it is naive to believe that ESPN would have nothing to do with a Fury-Francis matchup simply because of its affiliation with the UFC.

It would seem that Fury-Francis could only happen under one of two scenarios: either Francis is no longer under contract with the UFC and is free to fight anywhere or he remains under contract and the UFC permits the fight to happen, by either taking a payment (as with Floyd-Conor) or by actively co-promoting.

Sure, the latter would be preferable from an ESPN-UFC relationship perspective...but I don't think the former would preclude ESPN's involvement.

Options for what? It's a big world and there's plenty of ways to make money. There's ways to build your reputation. If you can't think outside of the UFC and it's influence then it probably seems that way. He fought his way around the world and thought this was possible. I don't see why he would even think this would be the end of his drives or ambitions. Who knows he might get the contract he wants as well and if not I'm pretty sure he'll figure it out.

OP is basically correct as far as MMA goes, but Ngannou would be able to get a few freakshow boxing fights, which would make him enough to hetire on, likely. The fact is that his run in the UFC built his name up enough to where he could get a nice payday or two in boxing before the world figures out he doesn't have elite boxing skills. All Ngannou has to do is be patient and not get ktfo, and he will be ok. If Gane makes him look bad, he won't be as marketable.

these guys are forced to wear sponsors and don’t even get paid. They can’t even choose what they wear to fight in.

it’s pretty crazy. The ufc is a novelty brand above fighters. As so many new fans think a fighter is only good when fighting under a promotion.

imagine a prize fighting world where you can’t have your own sponsors in the ring have a 4 color pattern to what you wear to your fight.


Things will get bad for the ufc never has mma been shittier than the last several years.

everywhere else will cross promote let you compete in boxing kickboxing or whatever you want.

the ufc used to have in contracts you can’t ride a motorcycle. don’t forget signing means they own your name and you can’t use your fights to promote yourself anywhere else.
