"Francis asked for 30 million" (he didn't)

I think it was the most they ever offered a HW. I was not involved with the negotiations so I don't know the exact figure or whatever.

White said it was the highest for a HW. Ngannou said "about" $8M for the Jon Jones fight, implying not that much for any other fight in their 3 fight offer to him.

Yes. If you look back at some of my earlier comments 8 million is what I heard.

It's been 2 years since Ngannou won the HW title, since then he went life/death to a decision with wrestling over Gane. A year before Stipe where he beat Rozenstruik and almost another year before that for the JDS fight. 3 fights in 4 years since JDS basically and during the time he was complaining no one would fight. I really believed him, but it's hard as hell to be a fan of another inactive HW.

Lol he isnt. His fights with Gane and Lewis sucked.

Sergei Pavlovich is everything francine pretends to be
How do you feel about the Jones matchup? I see him stopping Curtis and I hope we get to see some of his defensive wrestling before he gets a shot at the belt. HW Jones is going to be ADCC Jones from now on.

Francis wanted a 3 fight contract (He planned to do Jones - Stipe III - Jones II as he was confident he would win all three and solidify his legacy and retire after a boxing megafight) and open to boxing in the meantime with zero extensions.
WME offered him $8 million for the Bones fight, but 5 fights total and of course, no boxing. He was going to make as much if not more than Brock did from UFC 200, per fight ,Francis' own words in the Helwani interview; without selling even 30% of the PPVs that Brock could. Brock reportedly made $2.5 million from UFC 200, so we can infer that without locker room bonuses, backroom dealings and cash, and PPV points, WME offered Francis ~$20 million (8 + 2.5*4) for 5 fights.
Is there anyone that can say that with Francis' average PPV buy rate of like 350k he deserves more than ~$4 million per fight?
I dunno, the more I look at it, the more I think that anyone who was close to Francis should have advised him to take the deal, I certainly would have.

Francis seems like a diva and while I doubt he asked for $30 million (unless he is the single most delusional athlete in history), I have no doubt he asked for at least twice what he's actually worth.
What should the HW champ ask for?

I agree that Jones grappling is top notch at hw. He abandoned it at lhw and that hurt him. If he looks for the path of less resistance at hw he could do to most guys what he did to gane.

I think Blaydes striking is underrated and he is a real threat to Jones. Aspinall too. Those dudes can grapple and can crack
