Didn't suck, but I thought it was a tad overrated.

I really like the movie and watched it over and over again when I was a kid/teen. Going back and watching it now that I’ve had more exposure to 60’s/70’s American culture I can see that the movie played a little too heavy on iconic moments/figures of that time.

I still like the running, ping pong, shrimpin’, and Lieutenant Dan.

The movie is a time capsule capturing a chunk of history in an entertaining fashion.

The AIDS thing always bothered me...she never clearly said what her disease was, but only that it was something that was kind of new in the 80's. Problem with her having AIDS is that Forest boned her without protection...if it was AIDS there's a pretty good chance that Forest would have gotten AIDS, and also wouldn't Jenny's kid have likely been born with AIDS?

I've actually argued this with people before, but since both Forest and the kid are healthy I think it's more likely that she had some form of aggressive cancer rather than AIDS.

It was a great movie and was one of the earliest use of deepfakes.

The moral was terrible though... get friendzoned then your drug-addict, whore, childhood friend get pregnant, raises the kid in secret, then dumps him on you when she's dying of AIDS.

Nah. "Incurable virus". The kid wasn't a baby when Forrest met him, he was like dweeby 8 to 10 yr old. Plenty of time for a floozy to get GRIDS from some crazy bisexual partying and drug abuse.
