News Former WWF Wrestler Sycho Sid has passed away

How he managed to keep a straight face and just plow through it is beyond me.

RIP big man.

Everything about that segment is classic.

Sting’s “Our partner is going to shock the world!…” intro immediately followed by poor Fred just falling on his face, Davey Boy mentioning he landed on his ass, and Sid just going full throttle like he always did “I don’t care who you are!!!”

Stuff of legends right there. Fred Ottman by the way was one of the talking heads on The Dark Side of the Ring episodes this seasons about his former tag partner John Tenta (Earthquake). Guy seems like a really good, articulate dude. And he has fully embraced that career misstep. In fact they even did a segment on that episode where Haku- who spoke very highly of Tenta- was shown the Shockmaster scene, as he had never before watched it. Him cracking up watching the segment was a nice bit of levity in an otherwise sad episode.

He was awesome. I remember when he betrayed Shawn Michaels and power bombed him multiple times. As a kid I legit thought he killed him.

RIP. Great monster heel of that era. Him being the sort of replacement Diesel for Shawn (after Nash turned face and won the belt) was a cool idea. One of my favorite Sid moments is when HBK and Nash had the title match at mania in 95. Sid aggressively pulls the ref out of the ring and drops him, thinking he is helping Shawn but Shawn hits sweet chin music on diesel out of nowhere a moment later. Sid just watches that unfold with a dumbfounded look on his face. Funny reaction.

Also, Sid getting a hero’s welcome at MSG despite being a full on heel and HBK getting booed out of the building was something else. Probably the first time I noticed that tendency of NY fans to do that sort of thing.

Here is William Regal telling the story of the time Sid attacked him (timestamped):

I only remember him as Sid Vicious, and I think it was during his WCW tenure. Was he Psycho Sid before that or after that?

After.

He was Sid Vicious in WCW, then was Psycho Sid in WWE.

I know at some point he went back to WCW, he prob reverte to his original name then.

Then he was just Sid from that point forward.

After

He was Lord Humongous in Alabama and Memphis, then Sid Vicious in Dallas and WCW, then Sid Justice/Sycho Sid in WWF
Wasn't he also the first person to kick out of Hogan's leg drop on WWF TV?

When he went back to WCW in 99 he used an instrumental version of China White and was billed from "wherever he damn well pleases."

Glorious.

I remember hearing a story that he retired so he could play softball.

Good times.

RIP to a legend. Maybe the only guy who was a top star in the Golden Era and New Generation Era, as well as in WCW both pre- and post-Nitro.

Oh man. RIP Sid Justice!

First match of his I watched was against the Mountie! He took the Mountie's signature piledriver and just smiled at him! He immediately became one of my favorites!

PS: Eff cancer

Bruce Pritchard hated that guy so you know he was a pretty cool dude.

RIP.
