News Former WWF Wrestler Sycho Sid has passed away

I just learned here that Virgil died this year, and also Butch from the Bushwhackers died last year.

Very sad.

I actually met the Bushwhackers, Virgil, Yokozuna (right before he passed away), Hawk from the Road Warriors, and Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine when I was like 8 or 9 years old.

Wrestlers used to come to my hometown in Cornwall, England, and put on a small show infront of fans. I have a pic with all of them, plus their autographs, but haven't found them in years, probably hiding away in the attic somewhere. This thread has now inspired me to hunt for those photos.

Are you sure it was the real people and not one of the infamous "WWF Tribute" shows they used to run in England?
You may find that pic one day and be in for quite a surprise LoL

Sid was basically Brock Sampson in real life.

He was actually the shows creators inspiration for Brocks character. After season 1 they had to tone down his character because the WWF (WWE now) threatened legal action. So his roid rage was nerfed season 2 onward to avoid legal actions against them. He basically became a more medicated version of Sid.

Holy shit, it very well could be. I definitely believe it was Yokozuna though because he died a few months later in the next county in Devon, IIRC.

Even ECW marks loved Sid when he showed up.

Remember this big fucker but dont really remember any of his matches. I think he arrived in the WWF around the time I started fizzling out from watching it....

SID was awesome.

One of my earliest wrestling PPV's was him against Shawn Michaels. We snuck downstairs when Mum was asleep and watched it on Channel 4. My older brother wanted SID to win and I was utterly invested in wanting HBK to win.

Dude was white hot.

Some people criticised him for being a bit basic, but screw them. Sid was genuine presence personified, something sorely missing from wrestling for decades.

He was one of my favorite wrestlers back in the days. Dude had massive traps and his power bomb was vicious. RIP legend!

Arguably the greatest wrestler of all time. 10/10 leg splits.

I'll never forget his time with WCW and his debut in WWF. Sids character and look was great. That leg injury caught on tape was nuts and that "half the brain" promo he did with Hall and Nash was also quite epic.

R.I.P Sid. Great memories all around!
