Elections For Canadians (and sure, Americans and others can chime in): Is this a good reason to vote Liberal in the upcoming Canada election?

the same economic guy who hasn't even acknowledged the tariffs on canola from china ?

the same economic guy whose party puts tariffs on chinese evs and batteries which in Canada is nothing burger of an industry compared to the canola and food industries in which China slapped tariffs on in response ?
you are consistently the only poster in this thread that has the facts. We were so stupid to mimic the Democrats and nail China with those EV tariffs. That is exactly why China is tariffing our Canola.

This right before the Democrats doubled the softwood lumber tariff on us. The Democrats were not good to us, but we were very good neighbors to them.

Carney to run deeper deficits to fund infrastructure, tax cut plans

Overall, the platform shows Canada’s fiscal position worsening if the Liberals are re-elected on April 28, and the party is currently leading in most polls. Canada is unlikely to improve its debt-to-GDP ratio over the forecast horizon, which was previously a key fiscal guidepost offered by the Liberals under Trudeau.

the same economic guy whose platform was decided for him before he was even selected as leader ?

The same economic guy who claimed he was going to fix our economy by doing the inverse of what was tabled in his own platform ?

The same economic guy who won't repeal C69 ?

the same economic guy who has taken billions of dollars out of the country ?

the same economic guy whose actual platform continues down the same road that led us to the crisis we are currently in ?

the same economic guy who as economic advisor during this period ?

the same economic guy who during the debate claimed he never advised or supported these policies which is an admission of those policy failures ?

the same economic guy who is now running on a platform tabled for him that on thursday he claimed he never advised for ?

the same guy who says that doubling our deficit is somehow reducing spending from 9% to 2% ?

the same economic guy who justifies all this reckless spending because we are in a crisis that his party exacerbated with reciprocal tariffs and refusal to negotiate leaving us as one of only two countries who didn't receive a pause and reduced tariffs ?

the same economic guy who hasn't even acknowledged the tariffs on canola from china ?

the same economic guy whose party puts tariffs on chinese evs and batteries which in Canada is nothing burger of an industry compared to the canola and food industries in which China slapped tariffs on in response ?

This guy. Can’t erase what Harper’s team have said in the past. But sure. Just keep regurgitating what PP has told you to say.

I have not denied that Carney did his job as the central banker well. He did not guide us through the financial collapse as he states. That was led by Harper and more importantly Flaherty. In fact Carney's job was made VERY easy by Harper and Falherty. I don't think he had to adjust interest rates even once.

Carney could be a good finance minister. Not a good prime minister. My opinion. I know.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but in case it hasn't, Carney is an executive of a real estate investment firm. Talk about the fox running the henhouse. Apparently he recently stepped down from the position but he isn't actually required to disclose if he has until after 180 days of taking office, so after the election is already finished. I'm sure he has plenty of buddies working there still as well.

Yeah a 16 second audio clip from before the liberals took power refutes all of the 12 points I made. Smarten the fuck up the future of the country is at stake.

I sound like a broken record... how about you actually refute those points with some concrete facts ? You can't and if you tried you would realize how out of touch with reality you are.

It's been pointed out countless times. Idiots will vote for him because they think Pierre will sell us out to Trump, meanwhile we have a mountain of documents proving that Carney has been a major player in selling out Canada to the US for YEARS.

Show me these "facts".

That's great. What a wonderful demonstration of the hypocrisy of these lemmings. To boot, after Harper pointed out that Carney and little PP had both worked for him, someone asked, why didn't Harper make Poilievre his finance minister?

Is that right?

@Kassitus
Before you say, yeah, but he's still an investor, check this out,

Edit:
"Six Conservative MPs, including the party's deputy leader, disclosed last year they personally invested in companies related to Brookfield Corp., despite attacking Liberal Leader Mark Carney for his work chairing one of its spinoff companies.

Deputy leader Melissa Lantsman reported in 2024 she personally held an undisclosed number of shares with Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P., documents from the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner show. The company is based in Bermuda, which is considered an offshore tax haven."

Edit: correction, I admit I've gone off the rails here. You referenced a real estate company and I went off on this other company, which, in fairness, the Conservatives have been trying to make hay with in an obviously hypocritical manner. Please offer up a source for your assertion.

It's funny, some of the stuff that he's been pushing, like modular homes, are major investments for Brookfield. Nothing to see here

Oh trust me I'm well aware there are plenty of crooked CONservatives. I will always despise them more than the liberals, who at least half heartedly have some convictions.

Decent piece highlighting the issues with Trud, er I mean Carney

Indian spiritual teacher Osho once said, "Democracy basically means government by the people, of the people, for the people — but the people are retarded."

His words resonate as millions of Canadians — like Matt Janes, pictured above — prepare to vote for Liberal Leader Mark Carney, who recently unveiled a $130-billion spending plan. The plan echoed Justin Trudeau’s mission to spend Canada into prosperity and offset what he calls "the biggest crisis of our lifetimes."
Carney points to the U.S. and Trump, to sway voters like Janes. But the truth is straightforward — Trudeau’s policies devastated Canada’s economy and Carney, at times, served as his economic adviser.

The real crisis is stupidity among voters — and Carney is capitalizing on it for the election."

Hmmmm polling breakdowns are interesting. Liberals are dominating with overall but Cons are leading with 18-55...and with record early voting numbers, I'd bet that it's the 18-55 year olds who are either first time voters; or previously apathetic voters. You'd have to believe the senior crowds have always been consistent. Can their numbers beat the gen-z to gen-x crowd?

This could get interesting

Hook, line and sinker.

It’s funny how the future of the country is at stake and you think PP is the one to avert destruction. Hyperbole much? He doesn’t care about Canada. I remember you guys were also all in on Andrew scheer and he was so invested he refused to give up his US citizenship He still hasn’t. What a patriot. No wonder scheer wants PP in there. Will help his US interests.
