Youre talking about State institutions and public health. States absolutely have the right to regulate their own institutions with regard to public health given the communicability of these diseases. I grew up in Florida, during a time when parents still did "Pox Parties" for inoculation, and I got chicken pox from a neighbor kid whose Mom took him to one of those. I dont even know exactly how I got it from him because he was way younger than me. I didnt f*ckin ask to be infected and that sh*t sucked. Out of commission for 2 weeks. Then later in life I got shingles, because the disease lingers in the body a few DECADES and can show up later as shingles.

As has been mentioned earlier in the thread the recent measles outbreaks have already claimed the lives of children and parents are proving why mandates were implemented in the first place. Because our society is so hyper-individualized that people dont even understand the concept of public health, only personal health. And as someone who spent a decade in the supplement industry, the field of personal health that is science-adjacent is filled with quackery of the highest order. And anyone who shrugs off the inevitable deaths of kids by preventable diseases really shouldnt comment on the issue. I know you feel the same way about people who you feel shrug off vaccine injury but I can assure you that's not the case here. My wife is vaccine injured due to undiagnosed auto-immune disorders. She didnt know she had them until she got an HPV vaccine and had a bad reaction. That said, since late in HS she has essentially depended on everyone else's herd immunity as she is medically recommended not to be vaccinated, AND has been a public health 1st responder for outbreaks.

This is lunacy, and Florida SG has always been a grifting quack. They think this is a savvy political move, and it's not. Its about as stupid as when Trump said people's Grandma's would be willing to die for the economy and it cost him the entire State of Arizona at a time when Grandma's WERE dying. Its callous. And its irresponsible, and it has no place in public policy.

My neighbor has a full blown non-verbal autistic kid, he's 9 and still behaves like a toddler. Has complete meltdowns when his schedule is altered or is faced with something unexpected. Can't handle loud or annoying noises.

And she's not the only friend I know with autistic children

Here is the dumb fucking part. Tourism drives the economy in Florida, and I would imagine some people dont want their kids exposed to measles and other shit and will just stay away.
Some of these vaccines have been around forever, but just goes to show how effective is corporate owned conservative media.
Sure if you dont want to take the COVID Vaccine that is your choice, but measles, polio and a whole host of other vaccines are quite effective and safe.
Look at the percentage of children who died before the age of 10 in the 1930's compared to today, and you will see, that Meatball is trying to get kids killed so he can have another failed Presidential run.
Electric bills and Homeowners insurance has skyrocketed in Florida and Meatball is more worried about vaccines and sidewalks.

I will gladly wait for someone to quote Roid Face, Nepo Baby RFK jr. on why vaccines are bad.

Did anyone see Roid Face say Trump deserved the Nobel Peace prize for Operation Warp speed and then right after saying the COVID vaccine is bad. At this point though, the data is pretty overwhelming there there’s no causation. It’s been studied literally dozens of times. So I think we should ask:

1. Why are spending money and taking time to study this yet again, when dozens (or more) studies have all confirmed the same result?
2. Should we trust the group doing the investigating when it’s being overseen by a noted anti-vaxxed like RFK?

It’s interesting—Republicans have no issue cutting cancer funding but are willing to spend money retreading a topic that’s been studied a ton. It just seems like they’re trying to push an agenda at the expense of the scientific data we already have.
