I'm not blaming the victim I just thought they could have handled it differently based on early reports. However based on reading the account of one of the workers since then it seems like the guy was much more aggressive than first reported so I no longer think he could have done anything differently.

I work in welfare and we put loads of people through the SIA license which is how UK security guards are trained.

I've already said that the guy was more aggressive than initial reports which is why I no longer think he made a mistake. However SIA protocol if someone has a knife is absolutely not to try and tackle them unless they try to use it.

Most of them completely unsuitable for it too, but that's not your fault. They literally are fucking useless at anything else so at least they have a job. Source - me seeing most security guards that aren't nightclub/bar/high business building security. The guys that are "qualified" for roles like supermarkets and shops and public transport are 99% of the time short, doughy guys that even I could probably batter in a fight.
