Finnegan's Wake

205 will be tough enough to get to. Not interested in 185 at all, unless I lose half my torso in a freak bonfire accident.

I figure I could hit 170 if I had 8 weeks. a lot of motivation, and day-before weigh-ins... And some time to get down before I'd start to cut. Right now I'm about 203.

Speaking of losing my torso:

Tabata Sledge Hammering
3 min. rounds w/ one min rest.

Rd 1: 10 lbs hammer
Rd 2: 16 lbs hammer
Rd 3: 12 lbs single handed hammer

Impressions:
Not too bad.

18-21 depending on stuff like hammer bounce/ targeting.

Nice Finn. Holding the sledge doesn't affect your hand at all I guess?

Oddly enough, no. I don't really have to squeeze the handle with the index finger, but all in all the deadlifting didn't really hurt it either. Its slowly getting better. Did quite a bit of bag work last MMA Fight Team night w/ 4 oz gloves on, and it was okay.

yikes, 4oz bag work seems to be a recipe for disaster.

great work on the sledge.. it's getting nice out and i have a garage now so it might be time to make the purchase.

Do it. I love my tire and sledge, it is a great conditioning tool. That and my sandbag I love, I did a great circuit with them yesterday and will probably do them again tomorrow :icon_twis

I wasn't going all out w/ the 4's. The point of the particular drill I was doing was setting up low kicks, so I was hitting maybe 50% max w/ the crosses. I went harder on the "Bob" practice dummy since it has a hollow head/ forgiving body compared to the thai bags. The GnP bag is like hitting a couch cushion, so no real danger there.

Conditioning/ Core

3 Rounds Active Pad Work for partner
Held the pads, clinched, moved around, slipped punches, etc. Nice warm up for me.

Tabata Mit Work
Rd 1: 1-2's
Rd 2: hooks
Rd 3: 1-2's
Rd 4: uppercuts
Rd 5: 3-2's
Rd 6: 1-2's

Core Circuit:
Repeated 3 times, no rest between exercises, 1 min. rest between circuits

DB Twists (45 lbs) x 16
DB Swings (45 lbs) x 12
Ab Wheel Rollouts x 10
Towel Pullups x 5
Sazon Side Bends (using 45lbs plate overhead) x 8

Heavybag Catch, Clean, Press, and Toss (see the "training" vid with me and Barut)
x 25-30 or so as a finisher.

Impressions:
Nice compact little workout. Squeezed this one in after Robocop last night, so this was all done at around 2 AM. The neighbors were treated to the sights and sounds of two HWs tossing a heavbag back and forth. No police were called.

Fucking Title MMA. I should have known better than to try and order from them again. Thai pads are back ordered till June, yet listed as "in stock" on the website.

^^^

Lame, man. Lame.

CSI did the same thing with me.

Boomer FTW!

I wish Boomer carried more than just the 140 dollar extra thick Fairtexes and the CSIs in Thai pads. I'll order from CSI, but not their brand. The poor, underpaid Pakistanis across the street that make Top Contender seem to take just a little more pride in their work.

Boomer is pretty cool about getting things he doesn't normally stock from other places.

There is also, KOFightgear. I've heard their Thai pads are teh wicked.

I'll shoot Boomer an e-mail and see what he can do, which is what I probably should have done in the first place.

Title refunded the full price. I refused the shirt when it arrived.
