Fights to Make After UFC Fight Night Allen vs Curtis II

Sorry man, I didn't even realize it was a fast reply, just I happened to check it 😅

All I mean is, if Sean is stating he's going to stand with Alex Pereira (and does!), then gets rewarded, he got rewarded for a reason.

Brendan Allen playing the game against the deadly Chris Curtis might just get him some promotional points.

But whatever! All fun discussion, I don't know lol
rewarded how? many you got some weird made up shit about Sean Strickland in your mind. lol He lost to Jared Cannonier after the Pereira fight and then crushed two cans and got a title shot. lol there was no one else at the time and he ended up doing the entire world a favor anyway by clowning Izzy. imo all good man sorry for fact checkin ya. ;)

I don't think Allen deserves a title eliminator after that super close fight with Chris. He should fight Vettori next like he was supposed to.
No… he should absolutely be given a title eliminator, he’s on a 7 fight win streak rn lame as that win was, it’s not his fault. Let him go higher and lose. He’s earned that much
Just found Adalaide Byrd's alt account
Okay, she got it right then, media scores agree too. Not.30-27 mind you but yeah homie got robbed that fight wasn’t particularly close.

stop playin you were trying to make it seem like Sean got a title shot right after getting KOed by Pereira. Can't we just be happy Izzy isn't champ anymore?

Of course we can :)

Yeah, the 30-27 was ridiculous.

Why would anyone not be happy with Izzy as a champ? even if you don’t like him I think it’s pretty easy to agree he’s the best kind of champion a weight class can have

I'm a big fan of Adesanya haha

I give him mega props - I just don't care who the champion is, it doesn't matter to me even slightly, especially when it comes to matchmaking threads

Yep. Izzy and Pereira are doing it right. Professional kickboxers showing belt holding mma divas how it’s done.

Melissa Mullins vs. Germaine De Randamie - Turn around for both after losing tonight
Nora Cornolle vs. Chelsea Chandler - Both coming off wins over ranked opponents. Winner gets in the top 10.
Dylan Budka vs. Robert Bryczek - Loser leaves UFC
Cesar Almeida vs. Ikram Aliskerov - Normally I'd build slowly but he's a little older and in that instance I say let's speed things up.
Dan Argueta vs. Pedro Falcao - Loser leaves UFC
Jean Matsumoto vs. Victor Hugo - Both won tonight. Let's see who carries their momentum.
Norma Dumont vs. Yana Santos - Rebook the original fight.
Valter Walker vs. Thomas Petersen - Loser leaves UFC.
Lukasz Brzeski vs. Chris Barnett - Lukasz saved his job tonight. I like this as the next step.
Court McGee vs. Muslim Salikhov - Loser leaves UFC
Alex Morono vs. Charlie Radtke - Good win for Alex. I like him being used as a test for Radtke next.
Trevor Peek vs. Christos Giagos - Rebound fight for both men.
Charlie Campbell vs. Trey Ogden - Both coming off recent decision wins.
Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Thiago Moisés - Think this has the makings of an exciting fight for both.
Morgan Charriere vs. Alexander Hernandez - Rebound for both.
Chepe Mariscal vs. Damon Jackson - Both won by decision tonight. Let's see who picks up a victory
Chris Curtis vs. Craig/Borralho loser - Winner stays in top 15
Brendan Allen vs. Marvin Vettori - Rebook the original fight. Otherwise I'm not against Allen vs. Costa.

Enjoy your picks each week man. Do have to say though the general rule of thumb for the UFC is 3 losses results in a cut. Think it would be a bit harsh to cut a fighter off of 2 losses from their debut

Thank you for the kind words dude. Glad you are a fan of my picks! I do agree I am being a tad harsh with my 2 losses and done approach. I think my rationale is just down to the sheer amount of fighters the UFC has and how many times we've seen a fighter cut after suffering one loss. But yeah I do agree it should be 3 strikes then you are out!

Allen vs Vettori - Rebook it. His win was not impressive enough to fight a contender. An alternative could be to wait for the loser of Whittaker vs Chimaev
Curtis vs Aliskerov - He needs to fight opponents that get an opportunity to enter the top 15, like Craig with Boralho, Muniz vs Craig, Hermansson vs Joe Pyfer, etc. Aliskerov has a claim to this fight and does not train at Xtreme Couture
Damon Jackson vs Muhammad Naimov - Both may need another win before fighting a ranked fighter It might be the last opportunity for Jackson
Hernandez vs Nurullo Aliev at LW - He is no longer the prospect and should be used now to test up-and-coming fighters. Getting Aliev's 0 could be his motivation
Chepe Mariscal vs Nate the train in the UFC - Mariscal is having good fights vs fan favorites (Peek, Charriere) and should continue with Nate the train
Charriere vs Seung Woo Choi in Paris - Rebook it. He had a good performance and his 2nd bonus in two UFC fights and he is a local fan favorite. Alternatives are to sign Paul Hughes and have Charriere vs Hughes 2 or have Gomis vs Charriere 2 in Paris
Bahamondes vs Zellhuber in the Sphere- Both young prospects, and both have finished Giagos. Zellhuber is a hotter prospect but Bahamondes appears to be more of a finisher. Give him his fight in the Sphere
Charlie Campbell vs Giagos - 2-0 in the UFC. He needs a test vs a veteran of the UFC. Giagos is 0-2 in the last two fights and lost only to good fighters in the UFC (Oliveira, Tsarukyan, Zellhuber, etc.)
Trevor Peek vs Yanal Ashmuz - I agree. Must watch television
Alex Morono vs Matt Brown - Give him the fight
Court McGee should retire. He is 0-3 and has a lot of injuries
Brzeski vs Justin Tafa in the Perth card. He is clearly not an elite fighter but should still fight opponents that he could win
Walker vs Usman - Let's see which brother is the best. He was not underwhelmed by Brzeski so he could still fight the second half of the UFC HW roster and not only Collier or Parisian
Norma Dumont vs Mayra Bueno Silva - They don't like each other. MBS lost the title shot, Norma hasn't lost for a long time. They are good powerful grapplers. Let's make it, if we have a FN in Belo Horizonte headlined by Costa it could be great as both girls are from Minas Gerais
GDR vs Holm 2 if Holm loses vs Harrison, GDR vs Miesha Tate if not. Yes, I don't care about WBW rankings as they are garbage
Victor Hugo vs Heiling to be rebooked. I am not imprezed by his performance vs a guy who joined the UFC and fought on short notice
Falcao vs Caolan Loughran - Try to make him fight a less well-rounded fighter with an easier way to win
Matsumoto vs Javid Basharat - two good prospects. One good grappler vs a well-rounded fighter
Dan Argueta vs Saaiman - Argueta is a good fighter but might need to pace himself. I would like to see Saaiman vs a less talented fighter than CRod and Talbott but still a big wrestler to test where he stands. Loser might leave the UFC
Cesar Almeida vs Abus Magomedov - I prefer to have two kickboxers fighting rather than we had with Budka
Budka goes down to WW and fights Val Woodburn to show he is UFC-worthy
Cornolle vs Pannie Kianzad in Paris - two strikers with high intensity. Yes, I don't care about rankings for WBW as they look like garbage
Melissa Dixon vs Montserrat Rendon in Manchester - Both are 1-1 in the UFC and need a rebound fight. It will good for her to be with a home crowd after Apex fights

Chepe Mariscal vs Muhammad Naimov – 2 guys that are 3-0 in the UFC, both surprise packages based on early appraisals, but take nothing away from either – this fight would propel the winner to a much higher level, ready for a top 25 opponent. Mariscal has never been fancied by the oddsmakers, but Naimov has been a bit of a giant killer with wins over Jamie Mullarkey and Nathaniel Wood. Naimov probably walks in slight favourite, but this is gonna be a close on…
Nice picks, especially Jackson vs Erosa and Peek vs Ashmuz
Chepe and Naimov are teammates

Brendan Allen vs Sean Strickland II – I know Sean said something about only fighting for the title but tell him this is a contender eliminator and he’s taking it. He’s a fighter. Both these guys have real similarities, too, and Allen just knocked off Strickland’s training partner Chris Curtis. It’s all there. Big records, a rematch, Allen on a great win streak, the kind of fight they both would like, an opportunity for vengeance (for Sean, Curtis, for Allen, the loss to Sean)… it’s just the right fight right now. Sean won’t want to fight 5 more guys to get a shot, so promise him a shot if he beats Allen a second time. Allen is now the young gun 5 years younger than Sean. Do it!

I disagree, Allen shouldn't get to leapfrog Cannonier or Whittaker. Neither should Strickland for that matter. Feed Allen to Vettori.

Great job as always @Shadey1 !

Argueta vs Falcao should be super fun, but as per the discussion, I'd really wait and see - if the fight is good, I probably wouldn't cut either to be honest!

Matsumoto vs Hugo would be sick - if Jean gets through that, and I think he'll be the favourite, that will be sneaky good win.

Considered McGee vs Salikhov myself, to be honest, both are kinda in the same position.

Like Dumont vs Yana for the booking, would worry the fight might be a stall-fest though!

Allen vs Vettori - Rebook it. His win was not impressive enough to fight a contender. An alternative could be to wait for the loser of Whittaker vs Chimaev

Ah, good call on Mariscal/Narimov - Mariscal vs Nate the Train is a great fight, and feels realistic too! Would watch.

Falcao vs Caolan would be a fun one, even if it became a brawl, I doubt anyone would complain!

Matsumoto vs Javid, boy, that's a good one - not sure who the favourite would be for that?

And Cornolle vs Pannie makes a lot of sense, too, actually I wrote in my matchmaking section that Cornolle would take Mullins' #15 spot, but maybe she doesn't now that GDR is back? Hmm.

Excellent stuff @Koala

He won't leapfrog Cannonier, Cannonier is supposedly facing Imavov, if Jared wins he's next in line. If Allen beats Strickland, I can't see how that puts him above Jared myself?

The UFC might do it anyway, but it wouldn't be right.

Against who? Izzy isn't fighting down, Sean isn't fighting down, Rob is already fighting Khamzat in a title eliminator. Jared is still not at 100%. Only match up for him is Marvin.

I don't even think Jared should be fighting Imavov. Dude has been doing nothing but fighting down since he lost to Izzy. Plus it doesn't even make sense for Imavov to fight him in the first place considering he just lost to Sean, a guy that Jared beat not long ago. I'd even argue Brendan doesn't really deserve getting Jared either considering how he almost lost to a top 15 guy. Realistically Imavov, Marvin and Brendan should all be fighting each other right now.

How can Sean not fight down?? He’s ranked 1 and he’s not getting a title shot down his the only direction he can fight in. Same with Jared. Allen was ranked 6th last night and just won his 7th straight. IMO he should be ranked no lower than 4. (With only Sean Izzy and rob past him)

They could go left field and do Allen vs Usman.

Khamzat won’t get a title shot with a win. He’s not getting a title shot until he can fight in the states the ufc won’t want a champ that can’t fight in Vegas

Strickland is ranked number 1 right now. Were Allen to somehow beat him he would take his spot in the rankings. He doesn't deserve that fight, he arguably lost to Curtis. Rerun the Vettori fight.

Cannonier fighting Imamov makes no sense either, he has wins over Vettori and Strickland, he should be in a number one contender fight if not fighting for the title already.
