Fighting Games Discussion

My friends and I had a lot of fun with this. I believe that I still have the strategy guide that came with it.

We only played it for a bit because it was rented but it was an absolute blast. I had no idea there was a guide for it and we didn't know how deep it got until we had to return it. I picked up the PS Now package and PS is continuing to load games so hopefully it makes it on the list. I would love to play the game again.

I may have worded that wrong. The guide doesn't come with it, but whichever store I picked it up from threw it in as a bonus. I'm not going to say no to free stuff, lol.

I really enjoyed the highlight videos that were in the game as well, especially Wanderlei's.

Timestamped:

Me and my roommate at the time would bounce between PrideFC and Tekken 5 on PS2. Put many hours into those games.

Those were the best. Really hoping they have it on PSnow. I'll have to look up the guide.

I wish both Coleman and Kerr were in the game and that Takada wasn't, but I know why he's in.

Did anyone play the PRIDE GP 2003? It was developed by Capcom, but supposedly it was a lot worse. It did have a much bigger roster (Fedor, Anderson, Reem, Yoshida, Rampage, Coleman, and more).

I never did, that game was only a Japanese release. I think I have the ROM saved on my computer, can't remember if I got it running on a emulator or not.

I can't play new gen fighting games. MK is sorta combo spammy now and Tekken gameplay is dog shit. Story is a bit odd and you have to switch many characters etc etc.

Whats really crazy is OK the movie sucked, and the guys are gonna look goofy...fine but man everything else about the game looks so cheap, like they spent a few hours on it

It's a stupid game, but the gameplay mechanics were interesting:

1. Interrupt Moves. Similar to the Alpha counters in later games.
2. Comeback Moves. Special moves you could perform when in danger like Guile's exploding Sonic Boom.
3. Counter Throw. You could actually reverse your opponent's throw attempt similar to World Heroes.
4. Regeneration. You could refill your life gauge a bit in exchange for a full Super meter.
5. EX Moves like in Vampire Hunter.

Interesting !

Game still sucks, lol. It was developed by Incredible Technologies who created Time Killers and Bloodstorm.

The console versions play more like a tradition Street Fighter game and was developed by Capcom themselves. It played like a slower Super Turbo and was missing some of the above features, but at least it felt like a SF game, lol. The arcade was a sloppy, glitchy, but hilarious mess.
