Fighting Games Discussion

I'll continue to keep pushing this game that is in early access because it is tremendous and easily the best sword combat game of all time already: HELLISH QUART

This is being made by people that worked on The Witcher III - The guy that did the character models/animations and the music producer.

They released footage of a new character: A Drunken Priest with a Longsword:

Is that a drunk priest?

It's a mix between the two, imo. Fighting games are hard and the labbing is, as you mentioned, boring for some people. The fact you can get stomped out 0-40 is demoralizing and people don't like to lose that often. In shooters and sports games, evern making one 3-pointer in NBA2k, a couple of kills in COD and a win in a team game helps solidify the fun you're having while in FG's there is nothing there to motivate you unless you feel like you're making progress by landing 1-2 combos in a game.

You're right, fighting games are a chore, but losing over and over again really hurts keeping casuals. It's why FG devs have always looked for an easy mode. To cut back on labbing and provide a comeback chance of winning.

And the majority of casuals don't get into them until price drops or special/mega/super duper/ultra/utltimate editions so the player pool by then is 95% hardcore.

Strive shouldn't be that high, lol.

With the new patch I think the execution ceiling and gap got a bit bigger. Still not super execution heavy but the mechanics they added and updated are generally going to increase those things imo. Some of the things like the extended air combos and Ram rekka dash cancels are gonna be things that I think lesser skilled players will not really be able to do consistently.

But yeah, I'd put it in the 'Moderate' section even then, maybe in between Moderate/Hard. It's a very forgiving game due to how they changed RC and the massive COUNTER slow downs, so I believe it's a fairly easy game to become decently proficient at but I do feel getting to the higher skill end is difficult and then there's of course the top level players that definitely are playing way better than even those at the higher skill ceiling.

Also, idk how accurate someone can really be with these kinds of lists. I feel like often times knowledge and execution get mixed up and confused for one or the other.

Even with that, it shouldn't be next to SF4 and not even close to Tekken or Virtua Fighter. Also the list is just an opinion. Here's the link:

Funny that most of the replies say that Strive is too high, lol. Still, everyone will have their opinion and it's Reddit. Funny how no one says anything about Fate/Unlimited Codes.

Yeah, I know, just saying though that the new updates for Strive are pretty good in regards to trying to increase the execution ceiling.

I'd like to see someone making a toxic tier list of fighting games with scrub mechanics lol.

I'm sure X-Factor would be near the top for most, lol.

Hokuto No Ken and Rival Schools Project Justice on Fightcade 2. Some Daigo action if you've never seen the character outside of SFV.

Soon i guess we will get character showcase of SFV Luke, kinda hyped
