Fighting Games Discussion

Anyone else modding the shit out of SF6?

Fluffy Mod Manager makes it easy as hell, just drop the zip of the mod on the managers UI and you can turn on and off mods super easy.

Outside of cool costume/color mods here are some that I think makes the game better:

Remove start-up spam: https://www.nexusmods.com/streetfighter6/mods/459
Remove all vocals from music: https://www.nexusmods.com/streetfighter6/mods/230
Remove character backlights: https://www.nexusmods.com/streetfighter6/mods/350
Remove hit effects: https://www.nexusmods.com/streetfighter6/mods/187
Change character special effect colors: https://www.nexusmods.com/streetfighter6/users/67135146?tab=user+files

Otherwise their is a ton of costume/color options to play with on Nexus.

Funny enough I did a lot with the beta but not as much with the actual game. I need to get back on it ASAP lol.

The other day I was playing a good player who for some inexcusable reason switched to modern, I beat him but it was really tough. He picked Ryu and he was basically impossible to jump on, and did stuff that was basically impossible to do in classic , like instant reaction level 3.

It's busted for tournaments imo.

Shuto's M Marisa:

SF6 is infinitely better than SFV. 5 was so bad it was unplayable to me, and the times I tried to get back into it I just couldn't. SF6 hit the ground running and hasn't looked back. Much more fun, much better mechanics, overall superior and it's still early. SF6 can definitely have some outrageous comebacks though, some characters especially in Final Round than others (Cough, Marisa, Cough).

All that said, it does have a couple of massive outliers like a braindead corner game that is always heavy disadvantage if you're in it, characters with busted Drive Rush, shady inputs, stuff like that. But hopefully these get addressed in a near-future patch.

Nothing wrong with big comebacks at all IMHO, if they become too hard I think you loose the tension late in a round were someone tries to eek out the finish whilst still afraid of a comeback, without that people tend to just keep marching forward knowing they will land at some point.

Corner advantage I'v always liked personally but I spose the issue is Drive Rush being just too simple a mechanic? needs something to make it more interesting but I'm not sure what that could be.

I can kind of see why they created Drive Rush to give the game more of a "dramatic moment", I not played SF5 much at all but viewing it the matches did feel a bit mechanical to me with the focus on long(ish) combos which really were not that dramatic as they were rarely dropped, what actually mattered was getting into the combo in the first place and that was played up much less.

I must admit it all seems like a roundabout way to not have 3rd strike style parrying and super confirms in the game to me which would provide the same kind of dramatic moments but with more complexity.

Comebacks are always hype, I just hate when they are too easy to access rather than a skillful comeback. For example, there's a monumental difference between Evo Moment #37 and mashing Rage Arts against an electric in Tekken 7. Part of what makes a comeback hype for me is the "against the odds" victory, but when you make that victory a simple part of the meta the comeback starts to lose its value.

Drive Rush is good in theory, but seeing it more it is too strong for too little trade off. Raw Drive Rush is the main complaint I see most pro players agree on. Raw Drive Rush gives you all of-

-Fast Dash that is unreactable with some characters, able to skip neutral often
-Many negative normals become + on block
-50/50 combo mixups that don't connect become possible
-Some combos that don't connect now can for 1 bar and solid damage
-Regular knockdowns become oki after a Drive Rush
-Only costs 1 bar, the bar is replenished by the time you've completed attack.
-Etc.

Drive Rush is pretty busted lol. It does seem like between that, the current parry, and throw loops, it's like they tried to not have 3rd Strike while adding the feel of 3rd Strike. Or something lol.

Lol, what brought this on?

I thought I posted this here but I see I didn't lol. Mena was complaining hard about Drive Rush, I think that's what brought it on originally. Interesting coming from him as he's not one to complain and just won CEO.

I'm surprised they're doing SF6 at Evo considering it just came out and all.

I can't abide by a sfv player calling a game scrubby lol.

I think the drive rush of characters should be nerfed otherwise if you universally nerf it you are just decimating the lower tier characters.

My issue with DR is it leads to unearned access to shimmy mixup. If shimmy mixup damage was scaled I could live with it more.

Hahaha that is true LOL!

Yea I think the risk reward needs to be adjusted too. Like maybe make it cost more meter done raw? Damage scale it? Recharges slower? Plus frames on block reduced? Speed is slower? Something lol anything. The way it exists right now you'd be a fool not to use it any chance you can. I saw TNS the last one and DR is being used like crazy in the neutral now. It's becoming the actual neutral haha.

About the shimmy too, I just re-watched the Big Bird/Kakura match, and a DR Shimmy Marisa Level 3 combo took like 70% of his health LOL. R.I.P.

There's no chance in hell Evo was gonna miss out lol. Rashid is tournament legal too.

Apparently, it was after this match:

Tekken 8 beta codes went out, I completely forgot to sign up. PS5 Beta this weekend and PC beta next weekend.

It would be a shame if it got cracked and people were able to play until launch. A real shame. Surely I hope this does not happen.

I hope they add Modern controls to Tekken 8 so players can EWGF by hitting f+2 lol.
