Fence grabs should be legal

Apparently they are difficult for you to understand because you're clearly too stupid state my points properly.

<36>

Again, moulding the rules to end your diaper shitting and keeping you entertained isn't going to happen. No amount of fence grabbing is going to change that ;)

You keep repeating the same fallacy.

It's pretty straightforward what I'm doing here. I want a more exciting and fair bout, so I suggested some rule change to create more parity among styles. A rule change is possible, the rules aren't necessarily fixed. I am not under any misapprehension that my suggestion will get enacted. I'm simply stating an opinion.

The unified rules being longstanding are not a reason for my opinion to not be legitimate. The fact that rulesets naturally favor one style over another isn't a reason that my opinion is not legitimate.

My opinion is legitimate as long as it makes sense logically. If a rule change that levels the playing field between elite wrestlers and strikers leads to more entertainment, then my opinion is a legitimate one. That's all that is required.

You can disagree with my opinion, but your points certainly don't invalidate my opinion. They hardly even make sense in this context. Given my preference, a rule change is completely logical. And nothing you said disputes that.

So again, the only legitimate, novel thing you've offered is that you think the rules should stay the way they are, because you like it this way.

The fallacy is in you believing the rules should change because you're bored and your favorite fighters aren't winning. No one said the unified rules shouldn't be changed just because they are longstanding. They shouldn't be changed because they aren't here to accommodate bored WWE fans.

It's not a fallacy to hold a preference. So your opinion is that you don't think they should make rule changes on this basis. Good for you! You could have saved us all the trouble and just said this plainly, instead of trying to explain why it's illegitimate to hold the opposite opinion using phony logic.

All this fluff just to toot your own horn and act like a know-it-all. You must be the type to smell your own farts.

You literally said "fence grabs should be legal".

I agree, you could have just said "I prefer WWE" and we would have been done here. Instead you've gone on a bizarre rant.

Me pointing out your stupidity should be appreciated.

Buddy, what I'm doing is so banal and run of the mill that I'm amazed you take such issue with it. People on forums and twitter and whatever suggest rule changes every day for various sports to yes, maximize their enjoyment.

I suggested a rule change which g*r*b addressed on page 2 using some historical example, fine. But I explained the problem clearly enough that anyone else could have suggested a more fitting change - I even solicited other potential changes.

You have literally contributed nothing other than spouting your preference in an extremely long-winded way, throwing in non sequiturs such as the fact that I have no power to change the rules along the way. If you don't like the thread, run along.

Buddy, you still fail to realize that not only was your rule change stupid, the reason is even dumber.

You've spent the entire thread whining because you don't like wrestling. I've tried to point out some martial arts are naturally more important than others, but you're too dense to realize it. Changing the rules so your favorite fighters are more successful is what children do.

I even asked you to think about better rule changes to accommodate your lack of excitement and you've come up with nothing.

Basically this thread is you coming up with a terrible idea for an idiotic reason and then crying when people try to help you.

Just make knees and kicks legal to a grounded opponent and 12-6 elbows also legal. That will balance things out a lot. Grappling is a safe space from striking because of the rules. It's how you avoid striking exchanges.

Naturally more important? Lol, like where, in the jungle? The laws of nature govern that domain, and the primary weapons in nature are claws, teeth, bone, and instinct. There is no such thing as 'naturally' when it comes to man-made styles like 'wrestling'. MMA does not exist outside of the arbitrary rules that are applied to it. The idea that "wrestling" is naturally more important is a joke - it's only more important given this ruleset, which means you agree with me in recognizing the balance issue that exists.

Even without a concrete recommendation for a specific rule change, this thread can be about 1) discussing balance and 2) thinking of such a rule change.

That is, if you would kindly move along and let the people without emotional issues discuss and hash out these points.

Those are pretty good suggestions. I've heard that knees to a grounded opponent could also be abused by wrestlers. Probably 12-6 elbows as well. It's a tricky subject, but I'm confident a proper change can be devised. The solution will end up being a very subtle one.

Yes it's been used by wrestlers in past promotions. That's why I said it will balance things out because it also adds extra weapons to grapplers.

12-6 elbows really isn't much different then regular elbows being used now. Only difference is it's easier to throw them while defending takedowns. So you'll see more knockouts from those situations of defending a take down.

Yes, one is naturally more dominant than the other in most situations. This is reflected in most forms of MMA. I understand this isn't obvious to you. Bringing up weapons just shows you still don't understand what's being discussed. Sure, you can change the rules. I've asked you for a reasonable rule change to accommodate your desires and you've come up with nothing. You know why? The answer is in this paragraph.

You can throw as much of a hissy fit as you want that you're wrong but it won't change anything. Whining about wrestlers is always very funny to watch.

Maybe some training TTD could help “mitigate the gap”? Fence grabbing is trash. Who would want to watch a dude holding on to a fence instead of fighting of the attacker…

I think, however, that the octagon needs to be updated. In my opinion sand/dirt/gravel should replace the mat. This would equate in fights that the Just Bleed God would find more pleasing. Imagine fighters all scratched and dirty swinging away in a cloud of dust and blood. Dana, I gift you this fine idea.

There are no elite wrestlers at the top of that division. Khamzat, weirdly enough, would be the only one if he fought Izzy. But he's a bit undersized, we'll see.
"The wrestler basically wins every time"
This doesn't make sense to me. Can you give me current examples?

This is a niche sport. It's better we don't have those idiots who are always trying to change things. Some of those are the same people driving around in their car by themselves with their masks on with their Covid vaccines and booster shots. They also ordered their social distancing hats from China to stay safe. Dana's trying to make this more of a standup sport with his Contender Series. He's bringing in mostly strikers. Once in a while a Khamzat sneaks in and it shows just how great this sport is when you leave it alone and let the chips fall where they may. Islam beating Bobby Green so easily is another example. Grappling is an essential part of this sport and should be celebrated, not eliminated.
