Fedor vs CroCop. Fedor's team share their memories.

Great thread TS. Much appreciated.

Really hope for one thing though - that Fedor gets some modern day training for his return. A good camp, with HWs on the necessary level. If I were him I'd go to AKA for the pure pressure against the cage style he showed he is susceptible to in his fights against Rogers and BF.

Amazing read, thanks TS, Fedor is the GOAT of course win or lose in his return because what he means for mma widely surpasses his record obviously.

Fedor used to be a very very serious fighter.

Awesome read.

Great interview and great memories!
I will never forget the anticipation leading into that fight. It was clearly the best 2 heavy weights in the world, and unlike so many others, the fight delivered.
So much respect to both men.
Thanks TS!

Excellent post TS. Always good to read about the behind the scenes for great moments in MMA. Fedor is the man.

Good read. Fedor has always taken his training very seriously

man this was a great thread. I was living in japan when this fight went down and I remember how huge it was there. i know a lot of people like to talk shit about pride and call those who speak fondly about it as pride nut huggers but i can only assume that these people simply didn't watch during that time...otherwise, they would understand what made it special. pride was so fucking awesome.

there aren't many other cases where there is such a clear trajectory of two fighters careers where they are destined to clash...and then measure up to the hype! i guess connor/aldo is on course to rival this but even still, it's not quite the same. cro cop and fedor told their story with nothing other than their fights...no lip service.

pride had more than fights-they had story's that were intriguing drew you in. saku's clash's with the gracie's is another classic that had a history that started 50 years prior. it's just fucking crazy. i loved pride.

Thanks for translation, man.

Cheers!

So very true, this x10000000. They will say they were around during that time but they weren't, if they were they wouldn't be speaking the way they do about Pride.

Great post Sohail84. It's great to read about all the details and intracies of that legendary fight.

Awesome

It made me exhausted even reading how much training was going on. Talk about sacrifice. That's how you become a legend.

This was an awesome read. Thanks for sharing TS. Didn't know half of this stuff. So Sponge prepared Fedor. That's awesome as fuck. Will save this for future re-reads. This is exactly why Fedor is considered to be the greatest heavyweight. He didn't just beat his opponents, he beat them at their own game. Mauls Nog in his sweet spot, the guard and outstrikes the best HW striker at the time in Cro Cop.

Just a question, is this the entire translated article or just parts of it? It seems a bit lenghtier in the original link. Also, another question for anyone that could answer me. Why did they pick Spong? Wasn't he a mw at the time?
