Fedor Throwback

I wonder how much executing that suplex took out of Randleman. Normally his top control was excellent, but once he did that suplex and it didn't kill Fedor I think he was spent. He didn't try anything else the rest of that fight, just tried to hold on until he got pummelled and kimura'd

tbh a single suplex shouldn't take much out of a juiced to the gills Kev

fedor trapped the arm perfectly with his hip on the reversal, it was a very technically sound move. kev couldn't post because of it

then, he looked like an explosive wrestler on his back and out of his element

Yes but the top tier HW's of today like Stipe, Gane, Ngannou are all larger than the Fedor/Cro Cop/Big Nog of the old days.

What a pointless discussion. You people have no clue if he would have fought at LHW or MW so why bother saying "he would be a LHW today" ? He's still fighting and isn't a lhw lol....so stupid. But but but but he was in the 220's before and now he's heavier, is that what you're going to say next? Don't bother, that's stupid too. Fact is he's still fighting and was never a LHW or MW, that's it, bottom line.

Also, Fedor Mirko and Big Nog weighed more in their last fights than Stipe who was just the champ and has the most defenses of the HW title in UFC history...so there's that dumb statement too. No disrespect, i'm just saying there's a lot of dumb speculation around here that people say would be fact and it's obnoxious.

Take the whole "Fedor is or isn't the GOAT" out of the equation and listen to this:
How in the holy f-ing hell can any of you continually state that Fedor was overrated or only fought cans or "insert player-hating statement here"?
Seriously, there really, truly must be a reason you guys hate to admit his fighting ability and what he accomplished, and I'm having a hard time understanding it.

Yes, I'm an older fella and have watched this stuff for a loooooonnnnggg time, so I am partial to the fighters from before TUF came along and gave birth to the newer style of fans. Don't get me wrong, I love the UFC. I honestly do. I even attended UFC 4. Yes, 4. So it's not like I'm a UFC hater. I'm not at all.

I really just don't understand why people hate on Fedor. It's not Fedor's fault at all. The m-fer did what he was supposed to do: he fought and won fights. You guys should hate on the hardcore Fedor fans and not Fedor.
Well said - also instead of just checking his way-past-prime fight record (heck Muhammad Ali lost to Trevror Berbick), watch his prime fights and then form your opinion. Watch him dismantle the unbeatable Big Nog on the ground and win a stand up war with Crocop. Watch him knock out Tim Sylvia before Sylvia could react (btw that I think was the last fight in which Fedor was in his prime). Also by just watching fights, you can tell if someone is/was special. Name one heavyweight who moved like Fedor, or transitioned like Fedor.

He was very explosive. Rare athlete for MMA. Obviously he fought against a lot of cans and MMA wasn't as developed. Doubt a guy like that would ever fight in HW anymore.

yeah the myth of man not understanding how to fight and mix styles together. Until like 2012

Stipe and arlovski fought to be next in line for a title shot. Okeynik was still beating many guys until recently and he was never a top hw. Back then. hunt knocking guys like Lewis out.

Gane we know nothing about. And has never faced any style matchups. Stipe was a basic guy from the existence of mma. An ok wrestler and ok boxer. Excelled at nothing. He did beat a lot of names that were way passed it.

Dans previous loss was to Jake Shields for the Strikeforce MW championship, before that he lost to Anderson Silva for the UFC MW championship.

Fighters stepping in the cage at 205lbs are MW fighters
That isn't how that works. Fighters that weigh more than 186 and less than 206 are LHWs. Thanks for proving my point though about Hendo being better at LHW and HW than he is at MW.

i think they mean due to the fact that everyone's getting bigger, someone of Fedor's physique and weight would most likely be fighting at LHW today which is a perfectly reasonable assumption.

But yeah, it's pointless whether it's reasonable or not.

DC did and he was Black Fedor. Both of them could have been MWs but fought and beat giants.

No.
Guess you're new to mma/combat sports.

Fighters cut weight for whats called weigh ins.
So for MW its up to 185lbs, that means fighters will cut water weight but actually walk into the cage heavier than the weight restriction.
For LHW (205lbs) fight weight is usually between 220-230lbs
For MW (185) 195-210lbs or in some case fighters like Paulo Costa 215lbs

Dan weighed 204 lbs when he fought Fedor that would fall into MW fighting weight.

These fighters evolved and grew with the game.

Just like you may have same people for working for Apple as you did 20 years, that doesnt mean their products 20 years ago were as good as they are now.
This is dumb. Humans don’t evolve that fast.

Shut the fuck up. If you weigh more than 186 at the weigh-in you aren't a MW it's really simple.

Seeeing that he was just 223 pounds here, wit still plenty of fat,

one really has to believe that MW would be perfectly doable if he was close to say, 10% BF.

Still, he was killing guys with his speed, Nog in particular couldn't do much before getting punched or thrown again and again. While being still adequately strong at least, to hang with those guys.
Hendo did drop Fedor to a face plant, however he did hit Fedor with I believe 2 shots to the back of the head.

Arguably the best HW ever, Fedor.

Shannon Sharpe ex football player says Fedor isn’t the greatest HW. Shows his fight IQ.

Fedor never lost in his prime. When he lost he was out of his prime. Then when he won again he was again in his prime... until he lost once more. At that point, he was back out of his prime. Time will tell if he is in his prime right now. If he wins the next one, he is.

Fedor / GSP are GOATs
Jones, Silva, Aldo have been caught juicing ‍♂️

I attended the fight Hendo fight live, right outside Chicago. Hyped to see Fedor fight live for my first and last time. The ending was amazing.

Yes... but Ngannou's 265 lbs. Fedor's 230. If we're talking pure explosiveness, Fedor obviously wins. If we're talking about power generation due to factors such as explosiveness, weight, heavy limbs... then Ngannou, no doubt.

Come on dude, let's not get carried away here. There's respecting a fighter and then there's denying reality.
