Fedor Throwback

Also of note is the sweep he used to get on top of randleman. The hips of this guy is totally insane. I watch it over and over and it doesnt make sense.

I wonder how much executing that suplex took out of Randleman. Normally his top control was excellent, but once he did that suplex and it didn't kill Fedor I think he was spent. He didn't try anything else the rest of that fight, just tried to hold on until he got pummelled and kimura'd

Of course Fedor also reversed prime Big Nog so he did pull off some amazing moves in his youth.

And seriously, in his Rings fights he's throwing around heavyweights the way Khabib took down lightweights. Pretty insane.

(Oh but "the game has changed/evolved" since then, my bad. Wrestling is completely different now, new things have been discovered I guess that we didn't figure out in the last 2000 years.)

Its REVERSE WEIGHT BULLY cheat tactics!

we've seen it all folks!
Nope is a speed advantage tactic against slower, nonathletic fighters.

Same can be said about DC to an extent, he never faced any remote challenges until he moved down a weight class

It's weird all these people talking about how he'd be a MW or LHW for sure now....You guys do realize there was MW and LHW back when he was on top and that his style was good for HW, right? He's still fighting and hasn't cut to LHW lol. Does Fedor really come off as the type to be cutting to MW? Bas Rutten won the UFC HW championship weighing 203 lbs and didn't want to fight at LHW, some people just have a different mindset and Fedor seems to be that type, which should be obvious at this point.
He said himself,he was faster and had better cardio than most hws. On top of the fact that his power was deadly and he seemed as strong as anyone in that div.

Well, nobody stopped the young fast MW from giving it a try, but they weren't lining up too much, lol.
Did he fight at MW?
The closest he did was against Dan who came in at MW fighting weight

Take the whole "Fedor is or isn't the GOAT" out of the equation and listen to this:
How in the holy f-ing hell can any of you continually state that Fedor was overrated or only fought cans or "insert player-hating statement here"?
Seriously, there really, truly must be a reason you guys hate to admit his fighting ability and what he accomplished, and I'm having a hard time understanding it.

Yes, I'm an older fella and have watched this stuff for a loooooonnnnggg time, so I am partial to the fighters from before TUF came along and gave birth to the newer style of fans. Don't get me wrong, I love the UFC. I honestly do. I even attended UFC 4. Yes, 4. So it's not like I'm a UFC hater. I'm not at all.

I really just don't understand why people hate on Fedor. It's not Fedor's fault at all. The m-fer did what he was supposed to do: he fought and won fights. You guys should hate on the hardcore Fedor fans and not Fedor.

excellent rebuttal but the facts remain
Dan was a 40 year old MW and damn near killed him

Dan-- at any age-- can nearly kill a mule. He had the power of the God of Sleep Sleep in his hands. I'm glad I got to watch him fight. You'd look at him and think that he was just a normal-type of athlete due to his unbecoming stature, and then sleep-sleep.

Absolutely
On a side not. I dont think Dan gets the credit he deserves as beast.

He has some of the most brutal knockouts ever

Fedor was more than a great fighter. He dominated the wild days of MMA and fought legends and cans alike. Basically, he fought everybody and never lost for 10 straight years while maintaining a high pace and exciting style. He was the most well-rounded, most gifted and one of the most athletic HWs in the history of MMA from beginning til now. He is not only the HW GOAT but one of the GOATs of MMA along with Anderson Silva and GSP.

Who can surpass him? The only fighters that could match him in abilities are Cormier, Cain and Ngannou. Unfortunately, Cormier went to LHW and Cain burnt his body out. Neither came close to matching Fedor's legacy. Ngannou potentially can but he's 34. He'd have to have a flawless record for the remainder of his career to even be in the conversation. Then there's Ciryl Gane.

Gane is 31, relatively unscathed and has already defeated two dangerous fighters in their prime and one wild card and he's only 3 years into the game. I expect Ngannou to beat Gane because you'd really have to be a special fighter to survive Ngannou but if Gane can defeat Ngannou, we're probably gonna witness the beginning of one of the greatest eras of HW history.

"He would've been a LHW in today's era." He's still fighting lol

Yes but the top tier HW's of today like Stipe, Gane, Ngannou are all larger than the Fedor/Cro Cop/Big Nog of the old days.

Laughable to expect a guy like Francis to have a shot against that type of explosion.

The way his lead right fires from the shoulder and leads to an immediate takedown is pure magic.

Who else has ever been so explosive? Who?

He ruined a lot of fighters.

Chit...Heath Herring was the #1 ranked heavyweight contender when they fought. Fedor made him look like a child.

I agree. Not even the top tier. Everyone's bigger nowadays from boxing to MMA.

People saying he was too light have no idea what they're talking about. Cro Cop, Big Nog and Fedor were all around that weight. It's like the Tyson era vs the current era.

Yes... but Ngannou's 265 lbs. Fedor's 230. If we're talking pure explosiveness, Fedor obviously wins. If we're talking about power generation due to factors such as explosiveness, weight, heavy limbs... then Ngannou, no doubt.

Come on dude, let's not get carried away here. There's respecting a fighter and then there's denying reality.

MW is 185, Dan was 204 or 205 and he was on steroids. Besides Dan's best wins are at LHW and HW. Calling him a MW when he is fighting at 204 or 205 is wrong. More than half of Dan's fights were at 205 or above and most of his best wins are at 205 and above.

You might as well call Anderson Silva a WW.

Dans previous loss was to Jake Shields for the Strikeforce MW championship, before that he lost to Anderson Silva for the UFC MW championship.

Fighters stepping in the cage at 205lbs are MW fighters
