Fedor taps mark hunt

So how do you explain him getting treated like a white belt by 185lb young Mousasi or McCorkle in the UFC?
He had a long period where he didnt seem motivated, and probably wasnt training as hard. He then later went on quite a tear.

Hey I'm not saying he was ever good, I'm saying he did way better against Fedor back then than he did later on. Usually fighters get better at grappling and lose power, chin, cardio and speed.

Yea I just think how he did against Fedor said more about Fedor at the time than it did about him.

I mean thats a possibility. Seems getting someone of Mark's body type out of side control would be hard.

Hunt is unbelievably strong. Such an underachiever though.
He did beat Wanderlei and Mirko in his first few MMA fights tho. On top of winning the K-1 World GP

He admitted as much himself. A lot of times he just came in basically untrained.

Not really. Royce Gracie showed in the early UFCs this isnt true. If someone is a poor grappler their weight and strength will only help them so much. As someone who has grappled for over a decade- I'll say I'd rather have a 300lb weight belt on top of me than a 200lb purple belt any day.

He almost kimura'd Fedor, and he almost spinning kick ko'd Cro Cop.

Lol he didnt almost Kimura shit. How application of the Kimura on Fedor was so poor..he wasnt even controlling the wrist but rather holding on to Fedors glove instead.

Hunt was a noticeably worse grappler and worse wrestler back then by a wide margin. Fedor just didnt even train for that fight because he broke his foot/toe while hunting a few weeks before the fight and didnt take it very seriously and Hunt surprised him a little bit.

Hunt only became a good grappler when he moved to the US and was training his wrestling with ATT and was promoted to brown belt in BJJ under Ricardo Liborio.

His grappling was terrible before then. Just caught a sleepy, lazy goat but surprise.
hunt got promoted to brown? Lol dam son

Although i've not checked out Mark's K-1 career i did once read somewhere that back then he had very powerful kicks, was this true?

What's the deal with Hunt nowadays? Is he fighting in some org soon or?

He put in a lot of work at ATT which has some of the best training partners for wrestling/grappling in the world.
He did really well in the grappling portions of the Werdum fight before he got Hornswoggled.

Flimflammed.

Bamboozled.

Pearl Harbored.

Confusticated.

Never understood why CC didn't try to take him down, he was much better on the ground than Hunt.

Cro cop said that Mark Hunt's hands were better than his,and he wanted to kick from the outside.
Also mirko didnt have no power double to shoot in on mark with. He basically did not want to get close. I understand his strategy. It would have worked if it wasnt Mark, who just absorbed everything.

No shame in that. The Joker has trapper some of the best HWs ever with his sneaky tricks.

Maybe you and I have different definitions of "almost". I almost got eaten by a pack of dogs, if they would've been bigger and feral.

The very start of Fedor's decline. His feet and hands were both fucked up going into the Hunt fight if memory serves.

I remember people calling the win over Hunt was just one of the cans Fedor crushed back in 08 when I started watching MMA. Then Hunt came to the UFC and started knocking fools out.
