Fedor strengths and weaknesses and his skillset in the UFC today (Long Thread)

I just provided a ranking for Fujita, so sorry bud, you’re gonna have to eat that one.
I don’t count Coleman in 2006. As I said in my post, he was ranked for the 2004 fight.

One obscure site having him ranked does not constitute a top 10 ranking or win. Look at the same source (archived rankings) in June of 2003. Fujita is not ranked, nor should he have been. He was 2-2 in the 2 years prior to fighting Fedro. Alternating losses to Mirko between beating Tadao Yasuda and Manabu Nakanishi. How in the fuck would he be ranked? You're going to have to eat that one, fella, because he wasn't fuckin ranked. Lol.

10 top wins in Fedro's career. 3 barely count. Be real, homie.

Kazuyiki Fujita lost to a guy who fought at UFC 8 and very nearly lost to a guy who fought at UFC 1.

He is one of the top wins of a man who would supposedly beat Francis.

This place...lol

I think a comparison to Pacquiao is perfectly legit.

No : He was named Fighter of the Decade for the 2000s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), WBC, WBO and HBO. He is also a three-time Ring magazine and BWAA Fighter of the Year, winning both awards in 2006, 2008 and 2009; and the Best Fighter ESPY Award in 2009 and 2011.[17] In 2016, Pacquiao was ranked second on ESPN's list of top boxers, pound-for-pound, of the past 25 years.[18] BoxRec ranks Pacquiao as the third greatest boxer, pound for pound, of all time,[19] as well as the greatest Asian boxer of all time.[20] Boxing historian Bert Sugar ranked Pacquiao as the greatest southpaw fighter of all time.[21] In 2020, Pacquiao topped the Ranker's list of best boxers of the 21st century[22][23] while Spanish media outlet Marca placed Pacquiao 16th on their Greatest Sportsmen of the 21st Century list.[24][25]

Pacquiao was long rated as the best active boxer in the world, pound-for-pound, by most sporting news and boxing websites, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting Life, Yahoo! Sports, About.com, BoxRec and The Ring, beginning from his climb to lightweight until his losses at welterweight in 2012.[26][27] He was also the longest reigning top-ten active boxer on The Ring's pound-for-pound list.[28]

And Thurman lost by split decision, Fedor lost by tko in the first round <GOT2>

Also, nobody is pretending Thurman is the GOAT of anything, unlike Fedor fanboys while their champion lost against a MW grandpa <GOT2>

speaking of fedor losing to smaller fighters remember when he fought ricardo arona

he did things white belts know not to do like try go grab a chokehold while he was side mounted.

yeah he improved after rings but he is showing how bad mma fighters used to be compared to present day. dunno wat the fuck ppl are talking about the sport "devolving" even with a weak hw division atm

You don’t understand the RINGS rules. And that’s ok, they’re weird and frankly stupid. <45>
But in RINGS, simply attempting a submission was weighted criteria, it didn’t matter how close one was to actually completing it. That’s why Fedor gives up good top control positions and such to dive for leg locks and shit. He was just fighting within the criteria.

ColemanFedor 1:

While in Fedor's guard, Coleman places BOTH palms on the mat behind Fedor's head----loterally giving him an armbar. This was after easily taking him down and getting his back.

That armbar stopped working by the time grappling wizards Hunt and Rogers faced him, but hed obviously sub DC and Stipe lol

Weird you dont see a lot of high level matches ending via armbar from guard anymore

Fighters must be getting worse

lol i wonder ifthe japanese judges counted trying to choke someone from being side mounted as a submission attempt.
<Fedor23>
lol I couldn’t tell you. I can tell you that before the Arona fight ever happened, Fedor had already won a gold medal in sambo at the European Championships and bronze medals at the Russian championships, and likewise in judo he had won bronze medals at the Russian National Championships which puts his judo at the level of an Olympic alternate.
—Fedor knew how to grapple.

It’s very hard to make judgments based on RINGS fights. Plenty of good fighters came through there, but the ruleset was so dumb it’s hard to make judgements like you were trying to do.
There were no ground strikes to the head either in RINGS lol. When Fedor went to PRIDE, some ppl speculated that he wouldn’t know what to do with GnP as he never experienced it in RINGS. Turns out he was a fucking master at it. But point is, it’s not reliable to make judgments like that without understanding the ruleset.

Fun Fact: Lewis' best armbar win is more impressive than Fedor's

Lewis by armbar!!!

Because you're an intellectually dishonest shill who's logic can be used to diminish any all time great fighter.

"Prime GSP lost to LW journey man Serra and tapped to strikes"

"Anderson Silva lost to sub .500 Japanese WW can"

Imagine everyone was this toxic and fickle. You clowns are pathetic.

You sound very emotional for some reason.

Yeah GSp loss to Serra and Silva lost in Pride

Fedor lost to Werdum, Bigfoot and Henderson who was effectively a MW in the cage.

These are just facts

Well don’t just talk about it, give us a link!

Truly one of the best armbars I’ve ever seen attempted on a scrub at a regional show in Bumblefuck, TX.

Hendo weighed 207 vs fedor so it was a HW fight

Bigfoot silva had 50 pounds on fedor

Only loss that was bad for Fedor was hendo

hey maybe if fedor didnt have want to deal with bs japanese mma rules judges etc he could have fought in the ufc.... just an idea after watching how dumb that rings organization was

If you’re talking to me, quote me so I get a notification.

It made way more sense for Fedor to go to PRIDE, they were the better org at the time.
And as I mentioned, plenty of good fighters came through RINGS: Fedor, Nog, Dan Henderson, Alistair Overeem and his brother Valentijn, Babalu, Arona… all kinds of guys.

GSP: "Fedor is the GOAT."

Jon Jones: "Fedor belongs on Mount Rushmore of MMA."

Jose Aldo: "Fedor is the GOAT."

Random, basement dwelling, 40 year old virgin, loser from sherdog: "Fedor sucks. He lost to MW Hendo."
