A true murderers row. How on earth did he do it?!

These long reigns will almost certainly never happen again in combat sports. There is just so much competition now as opposed to back then. Once in a while we'll get dominant champs for a couple years, but nothing like what Fedor did.

Please. I am not a JJ fan but he would have this sort of reign if he wasn't an idiot.

How do you explain the average age of the TOP 5 HW's being 34.2? Are you saying none of those guys are in their primes? Same age Fedor was when he lost

Try doing something at a high level for 10 years.
How old are you? 11?

Yeah, Fedor is the man.

Yeah, Lineal Champ is not the same as Consensus #1
Different topic.

And at least give credit to the source you're citing - http://www.fightmatrix.com/lineal-championship-histories/heavyweights/

lol this.

Having a Pride belt was akin to having a WWE belt, considering you had to beat a bunch of pro wrestlers on the way to winning it.

Nogueira is a pro wrestler?
Crocop was?
Hunt was?

I think you got it mixed up, bro. Its the UFC that had the WWE champ.

The problem I have with this is...how many actual title defenses did he have lol. He had some great performances but it's always been a rather weak division. And unfortunately he rarely had the talent to showcase against until going to Affliction & Strikeforce.

Why do people bring up title defenses as if its this big knock on Fedor? He left RINGS with the title.... he left Pride with the title... he left WAMMA with the title... Not exactly his fault any of these went under and he never lost his #1 ranking until he fought Werdum in 2010.

And lets not pretend that the UFC's titles aren't a joke anyway. Bork Lesnar got a title shot in his 2nd fight. Bisping is now fighting the #13 ranked opponent. Woodley is trying to fight anybody BUT the #1 challenger. Serra got a title shot for winning TUF.

A true murderers row. How on earth did he do it?!

Wow. Neat trick. Cherry pick his lesser known opponents and ignore his big wins. I almost didn't catch that.

1)Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira: Ranked: #1. (Won the Pride heavyweight title).

2)Mark Hunt: Ranked #7. (3rd of 3 Pride title defenses).

3)Mirko CroCop: Ranked: #4. (2nd of 3 Pride title defenses).

4)Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira: ranked #2 (1st of 3 Pride title defenses.

5)Brett Rogers: Ranked #6.

6)Tim Sylvia: ranked #4.

7)Andrei Arlovski: ranked #2.

He won all 7 of those title fights without tasting defeat. You can't say it takes away from his legacy to have additionally beaten some lesser fighters during that time.

Did fedor lose to Werdum when he was 33? I'd argue that is prime age.

Prime is incredibly subjective, especially when it comes to combat sports. Look at Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis when they fought. Lewis was actually older than Tyson age wise but prime wise it was a different story.

Personally, I would say Syliva was Fedor's last true prime fight. He did not look good against Arlovski nor did he look good against Rogers. Sure he floored Werdum and I thought was about to stop him, but he lost a lot of his speed and tenacity during those fights.

17 top 5 wins?

LOL no he doesn't.

GSP = Most Top 5 Wins --- Hendo = Most Top 10 Wins

People still care? Jesus let it go already he has not had a relevant win since 1986 and he magically got "old" at the young age of 33.

I love it how they pretend that he didn't fight real competition because of some freak fights.
"He fought zuluzinho therefore all the ranked opponents he beat don't count".
