Regardless of whether you think that's his only motivation, saving his own arse is a political move under the circumstances. If there's 650,000 emails but he hasn't found anything indictable, then it's irresponsible to write a letter to congress simply to announce "we've got more emails".
It's hilarious that you think pointing out the obvious makes me a "shill". Big AJ fan?
Its political by circumstance from his own end. It can't NOT be political when this is happening so soon to election time. But if he with held this info and it came out, people would be saying the same thing but worse. But lets not take this to the extreme of having motivations to help the Republican party.

How is it irresponsible? You're acting like the alternative of with holding this info when it has the chance to impeach a president is a better move.

Because FBI has to build a case around? Its not like getting arrest for shoplifting you goof, its presidential candidate. Look the other way around when it comes to influencing, Comey could avoid a president that is about to get charged for a crime.

...and that would still make his actions politically motivated. If he's just "playing it straight" and he's got emails of significance, he should release them or at least indicate that's the case.
If he doesn't, then announcing to public and congress that he might have something once he's read a few hundred thousand emails, really is simply a political act.
Apparently GW Bush's own legal ethicist is calling him on it.

Strangely enough through your links I did hit a paywall, but I've managed to get there now anyway. I'm not sure what you were pointing to in that article though?
That the FBI agents on the case wanted to investigate the Clinton Foundation more, but the DOJ was against it?
That's not really a justification of the public nature of the investigation or Comey's announcement.

It is, it reveals the war between the FBI and political hacks (Lynch) at the DOJ. Comey finally has had enough.

The way they'll brush that off is by calling that guy part of the "establishment." Everyone is either a gung-ho Trump supporter or a "shill", "troll", or "establishment member" depending on their policy preferences. Obviously any information or opinion from non-Trump fanatics, then, is not to be relied on.

Do you think Comey was lying and the FBI was conducting an illegal search?

And if you're crazy enough to think they'll find anything incriminating, are you worried that the illegal search that you apparently believe was conducted will jeopardize their case?

Stakes are so high but someone will get indicted, maybe it stops with Huma and Weiner. And I never said anything about the possible illegal search but if Hillary needs that angle to survive her career is over.

Based on his claim that he's under audit, yes it's possible he's hiding something from the IRS.

It's also very possible that he owns lots of money to foreign interests which isn't the best conflict of interest to have as the POTUS.
Based on his claims of annual audits, it would be pretty reasonable to think he hasn't been breaking laws.

And sure, he could have taken money to foreign governments. Hillary, on the other hand, has taken money from foreign governments.

"Finally having enough" of what? If Lynch is a political hack, then surely his actions are exactly the same in favour of the Republicans.
If Comey was simply going to continue the investigation or prosecute, he could have done that without the vague pronouncements on the eve of the election.

That's so hilarious. Not even joking yesterday I read that Huma and Weiner shared a server. It got me thinking that maybe Weiner backed up this data for his own protection. He could use it to force Hillary to help him if he needs it (like now). I was going to post it but I decided not to oh well.

Is this "life insurance" folder story real or fake? I'm assuming fake based on no credible news source but...

LOL that's the joke of this entire election cycle, there are no credible news sources. They carefully craft, and collude, and spread propaganda. If WikiLeaks has taught us anything its that the mainstream media is a joke.

...and that would still make his actions politically motivated.

The DOJ actions have long been politically motivated.

Comey may be motivated by the ethical standards of his profession. This is payback for the DOJ obstructing the FBI investigation of various Clinton scandals. Just to take an example, the FBI was NOT allowed to conduct a formal witness interview (under oath) on Hillary Clinton.

Stakes are so high but someone will get indicted, either Huma or Weiner so it does not go all the way up to Hillary. And I never said anything about a illegal search but if Hillary needs that angle to survive her career is over.

You did. You were insisting that the FBI had already searched the emails before they had authorization to do it, right? It's still in this thread.

My take is actually that there *isn't* a crazy conspiracy here, and the process of actually looking at the potential evidence didn't begin until they got the warrant. But you were insisting that that wasn't the case. And Weiner could well get indicted for the sexting stuff. There will be no indictments related to the email server thing.
