Favorite dog breeds?

Inspired as I’m traveling through Rottweil, Germany and need entertainment. Fire away.

German Shepard , Rottweiler or Rhodesian Ridgeback FTW.

Fourth place goes to Border Collies; ridiculously intelligent with stamina for days:cool:

I love Labs, grew up around them as hunting dogs. I also love Huskies, my wife and I rescued an 8 year old female.

She’s 14 now and her hips are in terrible shape, but she’s still chugging and loves the snow. 20 degree weather and she begs to go outside and sleep. As most people said, they are goofy dogs but amazing.
My friends had a husky back in the day, she was an awesome dog. If it was snowing out, you couldn't get that dog to come in. In the morning you'd think she was gone, then you'd see a snowpile start moving, and out from the snow she'd come, happy as hell!!

Had a similar experience with mine. Three year old kid down the street was over the house with his mom and he was petting our retriever nicely until he thought it would be fun to start pulling the dog's ears. The dog didn't growl or retaliate just stood up and walked away into the next room. Good fellow he was.

Thats why Cats are great.theyll fuck their shit up when kids get out of line. Sometimes they need that.

Years ago we raised Akitas. Awesome dogs.

After we lost our last one, we started fostering Labs who were being trained as service dogs for autistic children. They are flat-out the best pets we've ever had. We have a yellow and a chocolate now. We haven't fostered in a while but have a Golden pup coming next month. I'll take credit for training it, but all the housebreaking and social skills will come from my Labs. They'll teach him to go out to do his business and keep him in line. They help with sit/stays etc. Just amazing boys.

My last husky always wanted to go for a ride in a car. One winter morning when it was -20 F I took him along when I was grocery shopping one Sunday morning. I left him in the car with the windows cracked. When I came out of the store, a police car was there. Someone saw the dog and called the police because they thought he would freeze to death. The officer that came had a husky and assured the person who was worried that the dog would love the cold. The officer had to pet him even though I warned him that his uniform would get covered in hair.

My last husky lived to be 15 and his hips were gone. I probably let him go too long. It was the most difficult thing I ever did to watch him trying to get up and having to take him to the vet. I knew how he felt because I was in much the same shape and knew he was my last dog. Society won't allow me an easy death.
